What some of you may not know is that when Richard Pryor first started out he was mild mannered and mainstream. Dick Gregory's social commentary and refusal to be silent allowed other black comics the ability do the same. Who knows where Chris Rock and others would have been without Dick Gregory.
Gregory marched with MLK and opposed the Viet Nam War before it was stylish to do so. He held hunger strikes about issues and even ran for POTUS.
