Person A and Person B are both in a shipwreck and wash up on a deserted island. Nobody has ever visited this island before.
Person A wakes up before Person B. He quickly realizes the situation they’re in, and runs off to collect resources.
When Person B wakes up, he finds a note that Person A left for him (written with coal on some partially wet parchment). The note says that Person A has claimed 90% of the island as his own, and all the resources in that 90%. He has left the final 10% for B, a small section on the far south side of the island. It has some resources, but it is nowhere near as bountiful as the area that Person A has claimed. The note also tells Person B that if he enters A’s land, he will be met with physical force.
Has A acted in a morally permissible way?
