Taboo on FX

ive got it on the dvr but i must admit i was disappointed at some of the reviews.
 
Also dvr'd it but not watched yet.

Have only seen one review and that was underwhelming.

I really enjoyed it. It's not gothic, but it does have a very cool period mystery/horror bent. It's very talky, no action yet, but the previews promise more action for the 2nd episode.
