Our new, expensive, recently upgraded with permanent seating, tennis stadium look like it belongs on the Duke campus. I get that the Winston-Salem open may want the temporary stuff (walls, seats, banners, etc) around the court to be in blue for the tournament and TV, but do we really need the entire stadium to be filled with permanent blue seats for the other 360 days a year? #thanksWellman

And at Stanford (where their color is Cardinal red):

Or at Southern Cal (Cardinal Red and Gold):

They look a lot classier these colors. We don't want to be Virginia Tech:

Yeah, blue and green seems to be a pretty universal color for tennis stadiums. We have the annual Masters ATP Tourney in Cincy, which gets the top pros gearing up for the US Open, and the court and seats are blue as well. US Open - blue.

That's not a permanent stadium. It's a temporary stadium, the same as all of the previous editions of the WSO...

Yeah, I thought the stadium was temporary and comes down after the WS Open? Isn't that where the student tailgate zoo is located for football?

Wake tennis doesn't play their matches on the stadium court anyway

But every football fan who walks in and out of the game will be walking by. It just seems so very Wake Forest to build a nice new stadium in the middle of our sports complex and then line it with blue seats while at the same time spending money to make the baseball and basketball stadiums more Wake Forestry.

The seats aren't permanent. No one will see them.

Again, you are way off on this. The picture of the stadium you linked is temporary and has been constructed, and taken down, at the WS Open every year since 2010. The permanent seats that were built this past spring are part of the plan to create several other permanent seating areas and are linked here https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CKsG1nHUEAIXrpO.jpg.

That's also not the company that built the stadium court (the picture you originally linked), which is temporary seating and built by Nussli, a company that specializes in temporary stadium construction http://www.nussli.us/projects/proje...the-temporary-stadium-by-nussli-2699/402.html

They are the GC, so they likely handled the permitting and contracting with vendors. If it's truly temporary seating and the social media intern at Frank L Blum doesn't know the difference between temporary and permanent, then that's much better news.

I don't see a post you linked to, just FLB LinkedIn page.

That is the permanent stadium. Permanent. Like something written with a Sharpie.

Thanks Ron.

Don't you think that if Wake had built a 5,000-seat permanent stadium that you would have heard more about it than a random LinkedIn post?

The LinkedIn post isn't wrong anyway. It talks about the permanent seats that were built by the courts used by the college team which are now being used as Court 3 for the WSO (not pictured on that page) and then the temporary stadium built for the 2011 Winston-Salem Open (which is pictured on that page). Your mistake was in thinking that that photo was a picture of the permanent stands rather than the 2011 stadium
