While I agree the guy has earned the contract raise(3-3.5 mil per by 2016 and extension (8 yrs), what I don't get is the terms of the buyout. Its not like anybody is knocking on the door to talk to this guy and Clemson could find themselves with another Tammy Bowden situation that rocked their financial world. Terms of the buyout are:
Buyout if the university terminates without cause
2014: $24 million
2015: $20.7 million
2016: $17.2 million
2017: $10.3 million
2018: $7.7 million
2019: $4 million
2020: $2 million
However if Swinney leaves
2014: $5 million
2015: $5 million
2016: $5 million
2017: $3 million
2018: $2.5 million
2019: $1 million
2020: $500,000
He is going to be rebuilding somewhat next year with a new QB and loses some WR's. He also has to play at UGA to open the season, at F$U, the Louisville game with Petrino at the controls (location unknown), and SC at Clemson to close the year. That plus Wake, BC, GT, etc. If he were to throw a pair of 8-4 or even 7-5 the next 2 years, Clemson would have a tough choice to make.
