This whole thing is the baseball equivalent of the last 2 minutes of the Wake-BC football game.
 
Wow. They just showed it. Screw utley. That was incredibly dirty. Tejada with a broken right fibula.
 
Utley has a really fuckin' thick head to not get concussed there (if he indeed wasn't)

And fuck Cal Ripkin for sitting in the booth and calling that a clean play. If someone slid into his dumb ass like that and snapped his leg the mlb would name a rule after him banning that type of slide the next day.

The Murphy slide was low, before the bag, and not into a player whose back was turned to him.

I'm conflicted in how I feel about the Utley suspension. It's frustrating because the MLB basically admitted that it was a missed interference call which should have resulted in two outs being called and the inning ending with Mets leading 2-1. I'm glad that he was suspended because if he was playing tonight and tomorrow you know that the umpires would have issued warnings to both benches before the game even started and if Harvey even accidentally hit someone he would get tossed (I didn't think that Harvey was going to throw at him anyway; this game is too important for him to get ejected). On the other hand, I want Utley to deal with crowd in Queens. If Dodger fans can be scummy enough to boo Tejada as he's getting carted off of the field, I want Utley to have to deal with the shit thrown at him by Mets fans in Queens. It's awfully convenient that's he's just suspended for the games in NY though.
 
If the roles were reversed, all the mets fans would be defending their player. Its a baseball play, it sucks someone got hurt - its happened before, it will happen again.
 
Utley has dealt with the crowd in Queens plenty. This isn't even the first time he's been called out for a takeout slide against the Mets. He has a career OPS of .904 at Citi. I'm just bummed that he won't have the opportunity to respond to the fans by placing a ball in Utley's Corner.

Hopefully the suspension will put any plunking calls to rest.

Fun fact, Matt Harvey has hit Chase Utley three times. Chase is the only player Harvey has hit more than once.

His appeal has been "expedited," so he probably won't be around for Harvey to make it four times.
