On your mark...

Rubio going to Iowa to headline a birthday event for the governor.

Frankly, I am going to be very interested to see who emerges from the younger Republican class going forward. Things can (and will) change alot in the 2 1/2 to 3 years before candidates actually announce, but it is wide open right now.

I was thinking of this today...who are the Dems going to run? Biden will be 73 and Hillary 69. I would think they would have at least one non fogey running.

Sleepers: Martin O’Malley, Mark Warner, and Deval Patrick.

Sounds like Jeb and Rubio and the Pubs currently showing interest. I've also heard that Rubio may have some skeleton issues - no idea what or why. I would think Christie may also be interested.

For the Dems, I can't imagine Biden is really going to run. He never got traction before - not sure he will now. I had heard that Hillary wasn't running a few months ago. But ain't no way Bubba spends that kind of time on Obama's campaign trail if she isn't. Unless of course that particular campaign trail had considerable tail on it. Not a fan of O'Malley, plus he's a Northeastern liberal. Northeastern liberals are death running in other parts of the country. I like Mark Warner, but he really doesn't have much personality. Maybe less than not much personality. As for Patrick, I think he'd be more veep material. My personal favorite is Brian Schweitzer (sp?). Great personality and extemporaneous speaker and is a moderate from a Mountain West state. Was a secretary or under-secretary in the Clinton administration - maybe agriculture. But if Hillary is running, the nomination is hers. But I really don't relish a Bush/Clinton race.

I read somewhere that Obama was going to install himself as a Socialist dictator and there would be no more elections. #stockuponammo

It would be kind of hard for me not to vote for Warner because I kind of know him and it would be cool as shit to know a President.

If Hillary runs, it's hers. It won't even be close.

Do you get the urge to yawn when talking to him?

Don't get me wrong - I like the guy. He's just challenged in the charisma department.

I really like Schweitzer as well. I thought he should have been the breakout star of the 2004 DNC. I think he could broaden the appeal of the Democratic Party. He's got the personality and track record as a red state governor. The big question is if he could generate the fundraising necessary.

I'm not sure if Hillary is a shoo-in for the Dems. She'd be hard to beat, but I can't see the Dems nominating someone significantly older than the last several Dem nominees. It's hard to go older after going younger. Also as you point out, there is still Bush/Clinton fatigue.

I think the Pubs will go hard to Rubio as the answer for losing 75% of the Latino vote. Of course, it's not going to help as much as they think.

Is there Clinton fatigue? Bill was the headline of the DNC.

I think it will inevitably be Bush v. Clinton.

If he leads the charge on a new view of immigration policy, then it will.

Especially if he puts it on youtube like this:

Obama owes Bill and he knows it.

Bush vs. Clinton -

Clinton peace/Each Bush got us into at least one war
Clinton prosperity/ Bush 41 not really- Bush 43 nearly Hoover redux.

The slogan - Can we afford another Bush?

I really don't think Hillary will run. She'll have enough of an uphill battle due to age, voters that have moved on, etc., and I have trouble picturing her setting herself up to lose again. Especially given that the cause that she championed and tied her name to last time around has already been accomplished by Obama.

Part of your problem is the idea that Latinos' main issue is immigration.

Doesn't really matter because Republicans vote for the nominee and they don't want someone who would appeal to blacks and Latinos.

Look at the Facebook thread. That is your base. They decide your nominees.

Good points.
