Things to Do in Las Vegas

Is it in January? If so, you could spend some time at the porn convention after events. :)

I've always liked a locals Chinese place called Joyful House. It's really, really good and authentic. Lots of Chinese people eat there.

Buatista's Hole in the Wall has a little above average food, but it's classic Old Vegas. It the Nicky's restaurant in Casino.

Piero's is excellent Italian, but you'll need a reservation.

There's a place downtown call Le Pho that's fun Asian food.

Other Mama is off the beaten track and is a great oyster/raw bar.

Check out Kayak for rooms. You might get three rooms for good prices. Don't ask any Vegas hotel for "corporate rates". You will get suckered.

If any of you like roller coasters, take your rental car about 40 minutes to Arizona Charlie's at the CA/NV border. It's been rated in the Top 10 wooden roller coasters in the country several times.

Great recommendations there if you’re traveling to Vegas in a Time Machine. If so I recommend seeing Sinatra at the Sahara

I searched and didn't see a thread on Las Vegas that wasn't ten years old, but if I overlooked it please delete. My wife and I are headed out to Las Vegas for a several days in late June as part of a family trip to celebrate my MIL's 75th birthday. I have never been. What are some fun and/or interesting things to do in and around Las Vegas these days? Not interested in recreating the Hangover or anything, but I'm certainly no prude.
What day do you leave Vegas?

I'll second driving through valley of fire state park. that was very cool. I also liked going to Freemont Street and watching the lights and drinking. Also, go to a sports book and put some money on a game and get a drink and sit down and watch it (more exciting when it has one of your favorite teams, but an NBA playoff game would be good too).

Go to the OYO, play the $5 blackjack table, and split every 10 you get. See how many people you can run off the table! Then ride the roller coaster at NYNY and be sure to take your wife to Thunder From Down Under. It's Australia's hottest export and the seats in the splash zone are worth the extra $$. O is pretty good too.

I enjoy watching people overreact at blackjack.

pai gow when i want to sit for hours and not lose much. blackjack when i get antsy. craps when i want to lose a day's worth of winnings in 10 minutes.
Craps on freemont street with $5 minimums is a blast. And if you drink enough free drinks, you might break even!

Do any sports book just still provide unlimited bar service? Seems like most give you a couple drink tickets now, and only if you make large enough bets.

Zion is beautiful. We rented e-bikes and rode through the park.

Valley of Fire State Park is also nice for hiking. Just make sure to go first thing in the morning to avoid the heat.
I've looked into doing a long weekend trip for this, and I think VOF closes during the summer months. Heat is increasingly becoming a safety hazard.
Also, the truly best thing I did in Vegas was rent a car and drive to Zion National Park for the day.
I say the same thing about Anaheim and Joshua Tree. Never went to Disneyland.

I’m in Vegas this week for work - mostly vendor parties and conference shit. I did see The Beatles LOVE last night and thought it was great. They are shutting it down in July after an 18 year run but there should be shows in June. Buy the tickets at the box office and you can save on ticketmaster fees.

I did The Sphere Experience last night and really enjoyed walking around and taking it in. I’ll be back for concerts in a couple of weeks, but Im assuming it will be a madhouse and hard to take in the design, interactions with the robots, etc. Design and lighting make you feel like you’re in a space ship. The effects they can create in the theater are stunning.
