Trump Pays Porn Stars Hush Money

These public statements are really big deals legally. Particularly saying that it would have been bad if it came out right before the debate or election. Giuliani is acting as Trump's attorney, so these are admissions and can be offered for the truth of the matter. Keep in mind that Giuliani was the one who publicly stated that Trump wanted a "Muslim ban," which was then used by multiple courts to strike down Trump's travel ban as it was intent of religious discrimination.

Feds tapped Trump lawyer Michael Cohen's phones

After the raid, members of Trump's legal team advised the president not to speak to Cohen, according to a person familiar with the discussion.

Two sources close to Trump's newest attorney, Rudolph Giuliani, say he learned that days after the raid the president had made a call to Cohen, and told Trump never to call again out of concern the call was being recorded by prosecutors.

He's changed and has gone down the conservative populist route. He also sounds a lot crazier the last few years. Could be age.
Nationalism and populism are not the same thing. Trump and his camp are clearly nationalists.

Populist nationalism would be the dumbest thing, but honestly, it may actually fit with what the right is doing. If you truly believed that the government was working to actively sabotage the country by giving too many advantages to other countries (as many on the right did when Obama was president) then it would make sense. It would also explain why we currently have a president that is seemingly doing everything he can to discredit the government. I don't know if ironic is the word, or just moronic.

I saw the tape this morning with him talking with Hannity. The way he was gesturing with his hands and slurring he sounded like a madman. He bears no resemblence as mayor of NY anymore.

Makes you wonder how much of our government is made up of old people who were reasonable when they started in their 40s or 50s but got old and senile even more powerful.

He's certainly gotten worse, but it's not like Giuliani was all that good before.

Rudy’s Racist Rants: An NYPD History Lesson

It was one of the biggest riots in New York City history.

As many as 10,000 demonstrators blocked traffic in downtown Manhattan on Sept. 16, 1992. Reporters and innocent bystanders were violently assaulted by the mob as thousands of dollars in private property was destroyed in multiple acts of vandalism. The protesters stormed up the steps of City Hall, occupying the building. They then streamed onto the Brooklyn Bridge, where they blocked traffic in both directions, jumping on the cars of trapped, terrified motorists. Many of the protestors were carrying guns and openly drinking alcohol.

Yet the uniformed police present did little to stop them. Why? Because the rioters were nearly all white, off-duty NYPD officers. They were participating in a Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association demonstration against Mayor David Dinkins’ call for a Civilian Complaint Review Board and his creation earlier that year of the Mollen Commission, formed to investigate widespread allegations of misconduct within the NYPD.

In the center of the mayhem, standing on top of a car while cursing Mayor Dinkins through a bullhorn, was mayoral candidate Rudy Giuliani.

Giuliani won the 1993 election against Dinkins and won re-election in 1997. During his two terms, the NYPD ran roughshod over the civil liberties of all New Yorkers, particularly in neighborhoods where most young men of color grew up under the thumb of constant police harassment. At the heart of Giuliani’s law enforcement policy, in case after case, was a lack of accountability for police misconduct.

The terrifying prospect of an Attorney General Giuliani

In giving Giuliani a lifetime “muzzle award” for his hostility to free speech, the Thomas Jefferson Center for the Protection of Free Expression wrote, “He has stifled speech and press to so unprecedented a degree, and in so many and varied forms, that simply keeping up with the city’s censorious activity has proved a challenge for defenders of free expression.” First Amendment attorney Floyd Abrams called Giuliani “the single most consistent opponent of First Amendment rights in living memory.” In a 2007 profile for Washington Monthly, Rachel Morris pointed out that as mayor Giuliani lost 35 First Amendment lawsuits.

Separate and apart from the campaign contribution issue, for those that support our President, the following is acceptable behavior?

- Banging a porn star right after your wife delivered your child;
- Paying for the porn star's silence on the eve of a presidential election
- Lying about the affair and the payment
- With overwhelming evidence to the contrary, admit through a representative that the porn star was paid for his silence and tacitly admit to the affair
- Never express any contrition for this behavior.

itc has just been a barrel of weirdly wrong political takes recently
