Trump Will Win the Nomination

Now that I have your attention. Hello. It's been a long time. And I have no clue who will win the nomination.

Happy holidays and all that.

Looking forward to Dirk dropping back in again around 12/22/16 and seeing this thread.

Trump still has such hard ons for Cruz and Kasich that he claims he'd set up SuperPACs and contribute $10-20M to defeat them if they ever run again. Trump doesn't win the WH without OH, but he still can't STFU. Kasich is way more popular than Trump in OH. That presdential pivot is right around the corner...

What a clown; the man is totally in over his head and is too ignorant to realize it. Gawd he makes my blood boil.

It might be too late. Kasich like super hates Trump. Helping him could jeopardize Kasichs future.

Kasich is termed out in OH. Likely never runs for office again, unless it's one last go for POTUS in 2020. Trump isn't running again in 2020 if he loses to HRC, but boasts he'll still be focused on lingering butthurt. Get why Trump hates Cruz, but his loopy fatwas against Kasich and Martinez are bizarre. Just let it go rather than alienating people who can help him win. Trump said he'd also spend against someone else, but refused to elaborate (Flake?).

76% of people thought favorably of Donald's trump, according to CNN.

Trump is a strange man. Seems odd to attack sitting (and popular) GOP governors in states you absolutely must win. While picking an unpopular governor from a state you will win absent an Obama v. McCain level beatdown for veep.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/25/politics/donald-trump-hillary-clinton-poll/index.html

"Among white voters with college degrees, Clinton actually gained ground compared with pre-convention results, going from an even 40% to 40% split to a 44% to 39% edge over Trump. That while Trump expanded his lead with white voters who do not hold a college degree from a 51% to 31% lead before the convention to a 62% to 23% lead now."

/facepalm

If Hillary even splits white men with a college degree this will be a total route.

I doubt the data exist to test this, but I tend to think that many who voted for Kasich (or Martinez) were never going to be in the Trump camp anyway, so if anything, Trump is pandering to those who have largely sat out political contests in the past. He is essentially trying to galvanize the rural, white male Ohioan that has probably never voted before... That said, he is not doing himself any favors by potentially rallying moderate pubs to vote for the #neverTrump candidate of their choice... agree that he is a weird dude...

Ummmmmm.... Hilldawg is leading with college educated white males right now, but is trailing 5 points in the polls. This election is not going to be a route.

One poll has Trump up by 3...let's see what happens after Philly.

Minorities are under-polled due to so many only having cell phones.

You're probably right given how Trump has continued to attack both of them, and continued to be Trump. But Trump could have buried the hatchet or simply left Kasich alone as he was never a real threat anyway. How did Martiniz even get involved? Basically, Trump didn't need to do much to get a lot of GOP voters to find SOME justification to vote for Trump, but he doesn't seem willing to do that.

Only in a year with 17 GOP hopefuls could Trump pull this off.

For sure Trump believes he's going to win, which very well may happen. So a sitting POTUS would want to dig deep and fund a SuperPAC against an incumbent Senator in his own party? TX is in the bag, OH, not so much. If Kasich decides to run against Sherrod Brown in 2018, Trump isn't contributing $10M if he's in or out of politics. Manafort, Trump, and Putin must be advising DWS too.

Trump got into with Martinez when she declined to attend a Trump rally in NM. She didn't trash him, but he went to town on her during the rally. Trump didn't need Pence for IN, but he helps in NC and IA. It's not like Trump had a huge crew of swing state up and comers chomping at the bit to be his VP.
