US wants colleges to provide athletics for disabled

So does this mean a school is going to have to bend over backwards to accommodate this mandate for the 2 crippled kids in the school? Why would a school make sports options available if there aren't even enough kids to fill a team? Or do they simply have to say, yeah, you can try out for the regular hoops team even though you're in a wheelchair and will have your shit swatted at a ridiculous rate and won't make the team or boost your self-esteem?

I think this is yet another case where the government overreaches and then has to issue clarifying directives after the fact.

So you didn't bother to read the article.

Those words "reasonable modifications" will be the end of the public schooling system. It is crippling it now, and has douchebag lawyers frothing at the mouth.

Its not nice but yes the school systems are paying a frightening amount of money to address special needs kids. A really shocking amount. At some point that does in fact cut in to what they can do for all kids. Its hard to effectively tell someone "sucks to be you" but resources are limited.

In my state the school is now responsible for the litigation costs for both themselves as well as the parents. So is that going to stop frivolous lawsuits driven by asshat lawyers? Nope. Welcome to a bankrupted system where lawyers will sue on the notion that whatever is provided is not reasonable.

Not to worry we can just borrow or print all the money we need, or take it form the most successful. What could happen?!
