Wake Baseball 2017-Regional Champs! On to Supers!

Any reason why the games are at 3pm? Assuming that UF has lights on their field so are they just doing that in case there are weather delays, they know that they have a cushion to get the game in?

Probably need a great effort out of either Johnstone or sellers, but they both have it in them. Fortunately both of them had the opportunity to pitch this weekend.

UF definitely has lights at their field. Based on TV and this is also the time of year where around 4PM every day you can expect a massive thunderstorm for about half an hour and then a beautiful sunny day.

Ya it is. ITs offense is kind of like Wakes, lots of power, can pour on the runs (though not as good) and Long Beach shut them down. It why I'm worried about Wake going forward, solid pitching is usually what carries a team in CWS, not mashing runs

Omaha is definitely a pitchers ballpark. Still think we should try and get there though

3 pm is just about the dumbest time to schedule any outside activity in Florida in June. The heat, the rain...

Plus, I live 90 minutes away from Gainesville and will not be able to go due to prior afternoon engagements both days..Night game would be no problem..I am really pissed.

I was a little surprised to see the team batting average for Florida at .268 for the year. They hit better during conference play at .280, but are a lower scoring team with less than 50 HR's on the year.

Many Deacs in the greater Gainesville area or will we travel any for the series?

Florida routinely underwhelms in baseball fan support.

Deacs have a solid chance to reach Omaha.

The Deacs have the better lineup, and Roberts has found his mojo. As long as the starters can keep WF in the game, this team can make history. Like our chances.

Faedo is hittable. He's a damn good pitcher and looked good against USF but Kentucky got to him not too long ago

Sounds like it's probably going to be tight low to mid scoring games, which means our guys will have to pitch well, field well and not make base running mistakes like we did last weekend.

Anyone looked at their park ? I see it's scheduled for major renovations and from the current pics it needs it. Would be the worst facility in the ACC by far.

Is anyone going this weekend? I am going saturday at minimum and would like to sit next to other deacs so was wondering what section people were buying tickets in

Baseball America just issued its top 500 prospects for Monday's MLB draft, and here are the revised rankings for the Deacs:

#44 Stuart Fairchild (early 2nd round)
#66 Gavin Sheers (late 2nd round - there are compensation picks between the first and second rounds which push the end of 2nd round to about pick #70)
#218 Griffin Roberts (about 6th round)
#262 Donnie Sellers (7th-8th round)

Would also expect, Dunshee, Johnstone, Pryor and Breazeale to be drafted as well.

WF recruit Michael Ludowig is rated #444.

FWIW, Florida has:

#10 RHP Alex Faado
#169 SS Dalton Guthrie
#176 C Michael Rivera
#375 C JJ Schwarz
#433 C Mark Kolosvary (yes, the Gators have 3 catchers in the top 500)

Current sophomore...how is he eligible?

Edit: Perhaps he is 21?
