Wake Baseball 2021 | Cusick (1st) + Fleming, Seymour, Menendez, Muntz Drafted

getting tinsman and smith back would be a big jolt too (haven’t seen any updates)

Believe Tinsman can come back this week -- might be on the same schedule he was on earlier this season coming off the hamate injury, catching a few innings in his first game, not a full 9 behind plate.

Walter said Shane Smith could come back "maybe for FSU, certainly for Louisville" ... but that was 2 1/2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything since, so I don't have the most up-to-date timeline there.

Would it be assumed Shane Smith would replace Lowder as our Sunday guy whenever he comes back? Lowder has done a good job obviously, but he could possibly be more effective as a middle relief guy to get us to Minacci and Adler.

Probably will ask about this after tonight's game. Feel like they'll try to phase Lowder back into the role it looked like he'd have -- mid-week starter, weekend long man (if needed) -- before Smith's injury. But it's not like Smith showed much effectiveness in his two starts.

The bats need a game like this to build confidence. Good for Michael Ludowig who has really battled lately. Keep up the good at bats!!

Our midweek pitching has been strong 2,1,2 and 2 so far runs allowed.

Ceceri with 3 run HR. 11-2 B7

This one was *actually* Costello.

Thanks. My daughters boyfriend showed up and sat with me so I got distracted by the time I posted.

The first one I thought was Cencere but when I looked at live stats I could have sworn they had it as Costello. When I looked again it said Cecere, so either they corrected it or I just read it wrong the first time.

To follow up, transcript of questions and answers:

Shane Smith back for this series?
No, unfortunately not.
It’s going to be probably at least another three or four weeks, I imagine. I’m hoping to have a good version – a healthy and full version of Shane Smith by May.
Could be sooner than that, but as far as being the guy we think is, might not be until May.

Is that a setback or just playing it safe?
It’s not a setback, it’s just one of those things where I think it’s just a little more serious than we thought.
He started to ramp up back to throwing, it just didn’t feel great. The doc said it’s structurally sound, it’s nothing where we’re worried he’s going to need surgery or something like that.
It’s just one of those things where it’s just going to take a little longer than we had hoped.
