Wake Golf 2024 - Going Back to Cali for the NCAA Title; Women: May 17-22; Men May 24-29

Not to be THAT guy, because it's a bad start, but we're "only" 8 shots back of 5th. It's clear this team pops and fades based on just the stroke play of the ACCT. It's not promising, but still salvageable. Plenty of golf left. Gotta help Brennan.
 
WF is currently tied for 11th (out of 13 teams in the Austin Regional).

Every other ACC Team in the NCAA field is currently in the top 5 (qualifying position) in their regional:

Notre Dame 1st in the Austin regional

UNC 1st in the Chapel Hill regional
GT 2nd in the Chapel Hill regional
Clemson 4th in the Chapel Hill regional

UVA 1st in the Baton Rouge regional
Duke 5th in the Baton Rouge regional

FSU 4th in the Stanford regional
 
Brennan now alone in first. Deacs in 10th, but are inching closer to the #5 spot (6 shots back).
 
+6 and +8 from our third and fourth players does not lend itself to a strong finish. But agree with 27, we are not far back.
 
6 shots out of 5th right now and done. As bad as we played, it seems to be a high variance course where you could really change your position with one good round.

ND seemed to play out of their head and you often see a team like that come crashing back down to earth the next day.
 
Deacs currently sit seventh, 7 strokes behind fifth. They have played fewer holes than the teams they are chasing, which should (hopefully) bode well. Georgia has fallen back to sixth at E, only 3 shots ahead of Wake. It would seem that BYU and Utah have a lower likelihood than Georgia of staying on this pace, but who knows.
 
Front nine has beaten up some teams. We can make up serious ground with a good result from our group.
 
Brennan birdies his final hole of the day to shoot -3 and move to -7 for the tourney (in the lead by a shot over 3 Texas players).

Deacs are 2 back of Utah for the 5th and final spot. Logjam behind them and not a TON of hope teams ahead of Utah fall. BYU is a steady team and I guess the next best bet is ND implodes.

Gonna need to have a great day tomorrow to advance.

Looks like it is going to be Utah, Wake, Georgia, Arkansas, UNCG essentially fighting for the 5th and final spot. We need to beat Utah by 3 shots tomorrow and stay ahead of the others and we are in... We could also get lucky and BYU or ND implode but they are 8 and 12 shots ahead of us right now...
 
It's going to be a tight run in. Lots of teams starting to go low today.
 
Deacs on fire today at -6 through 5-7 holes on their front nine. Currently one back of Utah and 3 back of BYU. The front nine (our back nine) plays harder, so let's keep getting some birdies in on the first nine.

Brennan also our drop score right now, so that's promising from a floor standpoint.
