A tough first day for the Deacs. They were +10 and are in 11th place out of 12 teams. Ga Tech is leading at -2, followed by Chattanooga, Clemson, Auburn.
The best Deacon round today was a 72 by Thomas Birdsey, our #5 seed.
Evan Beck had a rough time with a 79, including a triple bogey.

Hopefully, the guys settle down the next 2 days. It's a tough course, but it's dried up nicely since the 10+ inches of rain we had last weekend and the weather is great.

Anybody going to watch Saturday or Sunday?

Great to see that Thomas Birdsey is starting the year off strong. He is a transfer from Kansas State (sophomore), who should figure in prominently for us. With him, Beck and Bedford, we will have some consistency. We really need somebody to step up in the 4th spot if we are going to contend for the NC this year.

Should have a pretty good year though.

Look at how far we've come....there's a Wake golf toruney sponsored by strippers.
