His family say they were hopeful she would be able to help him succeed at school and that they thought she was nurturing him.
'She talked to us about my son and what she can do for him, through life, like, give him a better life because he’s a good football player, so she was going to make sure he got on the right path,' the boy's father, who wanted to remain anonymous, told KTVI.
'She took advantage of him. She manipulated him because she knew what she was doing,' he added.
The boy's father said he told him about their sexual encounters but he thought he was joking.
The boy's grandmother was equally shocked.
'I thought she was very nice. She was always very warm. I thought she was doing something for him. Turns out, she was,' she told
