Wellman Message to the Deacon Club

Wellman will not be the one to get rid of [Redacted]. I think he really believes all the crap he's spewing, and the only way to change that is to get rid of him.

It's unfortunately, really. I liked him a lot until this debacle. But this is crazy.

agreed. he's in full "it's not a lie if you believe it" george costanza mode

When we become a championship program again, it will be the result of the decisions that have been made by Jeff [Redacted] and his staff during their time with us. The primary factor that will lead us to success are student-athletes who are not only outstanding players but also good students; good citizens who relate to our student body and fans, and are committed to achieving excellence both on and off the court. Our players have those qualities. There are many reasons to be encouraged about our future but at the top of the list are our returning players. They are fine representatives of our program and university. And they happen to be very good basketball players. They are the foundation upon which we will continue to build our program.

This is such a shaky argument as it gets obliterated the first time a [Redacted] recruit gets in trouble.

The Ron Wellman drinking game would be the easiest game ever to invent.

In fact, our overall attendance increased 11% this year.

Compared to what? The year before? Hell, if 1 person showed up last year, and 2 showed up this year...Thats a 50 % increase! When your attendance is averaging 8 thousand per game, and you slash ticket prices to next to nohting to try and fill seats....it isn't hard to get an 11% increase.

Jerkface.

In future years, we will challenge for ACC Championships and advance to the NCAA Tournament. With the direction of our program, there is every reason to expect that to happen in the near future. Ultimately, we are determined to win ACC Championships and advance deep into the NCAA Tournament. Those are all realistic goals that our program is building to achieve.

It's funny/sad how he expect us to do this with a coach that hasn't competed for any conference championships nor won a NCAA tournament game in his whole career.

in college basketball, there are absolutely shortcuts to being competitive

we need JTNB from the old boards to modify his EPIC post.

you fellow old timers know exactly which one i'm talking about.

The foundation has been established to return to our historical competitiveness and future championships. I look forward to continuing the journey with you next year!

if it was still not obvious to anyone, ronnie does not believe next year will be spent in the post season. saddle up ladies and gents. ronnie has just established the benchmark for next year continued improvement towards "future championship caliber teams."

besides delusion the only explanation for this is that the atm he keeps leaving the card table to visit is the BOT. if it is not out of cash early next season we are indeed in for several more years of wellman and bzz building a team that shows continued improvement towards "historically competitive teams."

There's a whole lot of talk about everything associated with the program except for the coaching staff. Sounds like Jeffy is dead man walking, albeit two years too late.

We finished 2-8 against conference opponents who missed the Dance in our last ten games (after a 2-0 start against those teams; good thing we've dropped the "finish better than you start" requirement).

I've decided that by "historically competitive", Ron means that we will now schedule and attempt to beat the 35 year old, thicker, slower versions of the actual teams featuring the actual players Wake used to beat routinely in the 1990's. That's the only explanation I've got, since the Conference is about to add two Final Four teams and a top 25 fringe program in Notre Dame. At Syracuse and in Louisville ought to be a cakewalk for a team that got beat at home by Georgia Tech, amirite?

This is what happens when someone stays in a powerful position for 20-plus years. They lose any semblance of self-awareness and believe their own bullshit.

Attention AD hacks reading this: apply for jobs elsewhere. This ship is sinking and when Ron's replacement comes in a couple years, he or she is going to have to clean house. Save thyself!

11% rise in "attendance" with a 1000% increase in the number of free tickets given away.

Apparently there are huge shortcuts to rises in attendance. Congrats again, CP3.

Pretty sure he expects NIT next season. He definitely has his message down pat though.

He supposedly expected close to it this season as well...but we've seen that his expectations change when reality sets in. Anything to keep those pictures of himself and the goats balls hidden safely in [Redacted]'s safe.

Sounds like the philosophy is to recruit good young men, and if they "happen to be very good basketball players," all the better.

He fails to see that requiring so many frosh to play minutes falls on Bz's recruiting/coaching. He even states how hard they worked to justify that excuse, comparing our frosh minutes to other schools'.

Also we will be in NCAA tournaments in "future years." Well, that could mean anything. Three years, ten years, whatever. Thanks Ron!

Bz is here to stay.

It's the everlasting excuse. This 8 man class virtually guarantees an exodus of some players next year before they can become upperclassmen and the ability to use the youth excuse over and over.
