Sometimes my Windows 7 gets incredibly slow at basic functions, like logging on or off an account (I have set up two accounts on our home PC, one for my wife and one for me). Sometimes I hit "log on" or "off" and literally nothing happens and the screen just goes dark and I cannot even shut down properly. Hitting a key or sweeping the mouse does nothing, the screen stays dark.
Sometimes when it just "windmills" or goes dark I try hitting "cntrl" "alt" "delete" and Task Manager comes up, but it doesn't produce anything.
Is there something that is causing Windows 7 to hang up like this occasionally? That I could clean out or fix.
Thanks!
PS: Please no snarky advice to buy an Apple. I got a great deal on a Dell Inspiron PC a year ago and it works fine most of the time, and even the Windows 7 is usually OK, just occasionally seems to hang up executing basic functions.
