Women's World Cup Thread: USA WORLD CHAMPIONS OF THE WOMEN !

One step away from John Terry, this...

It's a hell of a drug.

The USWNT Ladies are definitely more watchable. Their personalities are fantastic, and you never see anyone step on the pitch and look out of place, or over their head. zWon't go as far as predicting a victory, but it would be interesting to see if they could keep up. Tactically the girls are better, Athletically and fitness wise, who knows.

Why can't people be content to say the U.S. Women look better vs the World than the U.S. Men look vs the World without making such ridiculous claims?

The USWNT would get run off the park by the USMNT.

Stop talking nonsense.

Wake's men's team would beat the USWNT. The speed, size and athleticism is vastly different. And no they are not technically more gifted than their male equals. It's honestly not even close. There are a handful of women that have the touch, composure and technical ability that any player in the USMNT pool has.

Come on man.

The u17 mens team played the women a couple years ago. The boys won 8-2. Anyone who thinks the men wouldn't just name their scoreline is dumb

I hadn't heard about this. In what context was that game played? Closed door scrimmage, public friendly, or what?

It's weird how people continue to confuse rooting for the USA every four years with the viability of a sport. People want to watch USA vs. the World not Houston vs. Portland.

Seems like the best plan for a women's league is to tie it to some of the MLS teams in ticket packages and such unless they already do it.

Do you listen to Cowherd? He's spent much of the past couple of weeks of shows arguing that soccer's growing WC popularity - in light of declining Olympic ratings, for example - suggests otherwise.

I don't listen to Cowherd. Soccer may be an exception to the rule but it doesn't necessarily show that US professional leagues could be viable pro leagues especially a women's league.

Not on par with even NHL or most European soccer leagues which was certainly the goal of the 1994 World Cup.

The average MLS team is worth about the same as the average European soccer team. MLS attendance is even with or higher than most European soccer leagues and higher than NBA/NHL. TV ratings are growing consistently, though admittedly not on par yet with European/American leagues. MLS is growing at a very healthy pace to become a top league, it's a matter of when, not if.
