Softly and Tenderly

Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling for you and for me
See on the portals He's waiting and watching
Watching for you and for me
Come home, come home
Ye who are weary come home
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling, "O sinner come home"
O for the wonderful love He has promised
Promised for you and for me
Though we have sinned He has mercy and pardon
Pardon for you and for me
Come home, come home
Ye who are weary come home
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling, "O sinner come home"
Come home, come home (come home)
Ye who are weary come home
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling, "O sinner come home"

Most powerful rendition of this I know is in the movie "Trip to Bountiful". I think it's at the beginning, that Cynthia Clawson is the vocalist...the combination of her voice, the song, and visual imagery is moving and poignant.

OK, since typing all that above, I found a youtube video...the movie also closes with the song. Also, it's a good movie if you've not seen it.

Awesome. Thanks for posting.

Not really about death, but a type of dying...anyhow, this came to mind...

[don't need no words]

Damn, that CSO rendition with slower than usual tempo is...perfection.
