Fire Bz Ad in Gboro N&R, Day 4 = HEADSHOT

Meanwhile, [Redacted], the third-year coach with a 34-60 record at Wake Forest, was left fielding questions Thursday night about the part of the fan base that’s growing increasingly vocal and irritated.

“I don’t worry about things I don’t have any control over,”

The man is saying he has no control over fans being pissed at constant losing. A coach of a basketball team is openly admitting he can't control people being angry about his consistent record of losing. I mean, at some point the realization has to come to him that he's a fucking moron. Doesn't it? Please?

What I don't think the outside media understands about these ads is that they are, at their core, about Wellman.

Bingo. Was talking to the wife about this last night. It sucks for Buzz, but it isn't really about him. It's just the only way to point out how badly Wellman is running our program is to discuss Buzz's failures.

Somebody definitely needs to write about the ads from the standpoint of how Wellman has alienated the fanbase. Right now, media are just portraying this as angry fans angry about wins and losses.

Agree with Ph. I was thinking about this last night. We have to direct this to Wellman and BOT.

An uncomfortable Thursday for #Wake, from disgruntled fans to on-court whimpers to squabbles behind the bench: http://t.co/XNATNgiNpx

Buzz - "We have built a really strong foundation without compromising any values or integrity..."
I preferred our previous foundation. If there was a problem with it, then someone needs to spell it out. If not, then someone needs to tell this POS coach to SHUT HIS MOUTH!

Media types just need something to reference as a counter to the misinformation out there from the AD.

I think Wellman's power is incoming selection committee chair may be difficult to overcome.

This has indeed been a clinic in mass alienating a group of ultra-loyal fans

I didn't give an interview to the Times Dispatch when they reached out to me...

I've sent the writer an email with clarification of where credit should go.

He said edits were a pain but issued a pretty stout compromise by writing a new article that will appear tomorrow or Sunday.

I'll say it: vtwhat should be made a mod here for his efforts.

If we could fund the following effort anonymously, I think it would be an outside-the-box way of us firmly establishing who the "lunatic fringe" is:

That man's nothing short of delusional. He wrote on Tree's FB status yesterday that us fair weather fans were the reason we lost yesterday.

Isn't the definition of a fairweather fan one who cheers for the team when they're good and then abandons them/ignores them when they're bad? If so, I would argue that a bunch of fans who avidly post on a message board, compile stats, raise money, put multiple ads in multiple papers, etc are the opposite of fairweather fans. They are simply devoted fans who want to stop losing!

Well said, LadyDeac. If I may add to it, there are two other types of fans when the weather gets bad. We're the ones who bring our jackets and umbrellas try to build a shelter. Fans like that just stand outside and claim it's not raining.
