So on Saturday I was out and someone hit my parked car and scratched up the bumper, or so it seemed. It defs looked like there was damage, but I was actually able to wipe it all off with some snow. Can't see anything now. But I was really happy that the person left a note and was genuinely interested in taking care of it. When I called and told him that there was nothing to worry about he was defs relieved. A lot of people wouldn't have left the note.

the day before I had to leave town for my wedding someone hit my parked car and dented it pretty good above the front driver side wheel well -- also knocked out my turn signal. the person left a note with just their first name and said they were in a Zipcar. I called Zipcar and thankfully said person had filed a report with them so I was able to verify the claim. they were totally cool about it and paid for all the damage no questions asked. I think that happens a lot with them.

I bet that happens a lot with Zipcar and Car-to-Go drivers since they are likely people who don't drive much in the city (or at all) and don't exactly know where they are going. I can't count the number of times I have seen one of those drivers blow through lights and stop signs, go the wrong way down one-way streets, veer into other lanes at the last minute because they realized too late that they were in the wrong one, etc.

My fiancee is one of the worst drivers I know, and she's accustomed to leaving notes on parked cars that she hits. (It's happened twice.)

She ever pull off one of these, Texas?

Two job interviews today and one on Thursday morning. This afternoon and Thursday are final round stuff from last week (fingers crossed). This morning is a new one advertised for way less money, but it is right here in town and I'm going to talk to the owner and try to finagle more money/responsibility

yeah. because it happened right before my wedding, I had to drive my car to Lynchburg, but that was a mistake because the metal was dented into a sharp point, which grated against my tire whenever I would hit a bump, such as on an overpass. but I made it there and had to leave the car at my in-laws and we took back one of my in-law's cars to fly out of DCA for the honeymoon.

and that car sat on our street for a couple weeks after the honeymoon while I got my car fixed in Lynchburg. our landlords gave us a visitor parking pass to use which I had in the windshield, but I got a ticket on the car. I've been fighting the DC gov't ever since on that one since my car that is registered in the District couldn't be there at the time. ugh, so annoying.

A Wake professor backed into my car in lot Q circa 2007. Left a nice, long note. I could not find any cosmetic damage, though. I e-mailed my thanks.

Can't decide what to get for lunch today. In what is probably a bad move for my waistline, I am likely going to be buying lunch every day this week (since my birthday is on Thursday and since we were out of town all weekend and didn't get to the grocery store...#treatyoself).

Cosi, Panera, Potbelly, CF Folks, Julia's Empanadas, Subway, Nooshi, Sophie's Cuban, G Street Foods, Chipotle, Qdoba, Bub and Pops, Sala Thai, Taylor Gourmet, Au Bon Pain, Pret a Manger, Shophouse, Chop't, Orange & Black, BGR, Sweet Green, GBD, Luna Grill, Nando's, Pei Wei, Shake Shack, etc etc...

Too many options!

Shake Shack gets my vote for at least one day.

Or teh empanadas.

Hah. That is epic assholery.

She side swiped this nice F-150 once outside our law school once and left this long apologetic note with all her information. It was on this tiny Chicago side street where another car was coming towards her. She was so scared about hitting the oncoming car that she veered right and nailed the parked car. Face palm.

What kind of car does she have? Maybe a smaller vehicle would be easier for her to handle.

Walked out of my place yesterday morning to find a mini-pile up down the street. Looks like an old school Mercedes has come around the curve too quickly and taken out the back end of the Jeep Cherokee parked in the street. The front end of the Mercedes was bashed in, airbags deployed, the back end of the Jeep was pretty messed up, and the car in front of the Jeep had some damage too.

It's a pretty crazy intersection apparently: http://www.popville.com/2014/01/car-flips-in-logan-circle/

Thank goodness for garage parking.

Last time I was in the Windy City, my sister's boyfriend was giving me pointers about driving in Chicago.

-If there's enough room for a car to fit, it's a lane. Especially true during the winter.
-If you leave excessive space when you parallel park, you're an asshole. And tapping bumpers while parking is a common, normal occurrence.
