I definitely don't buy the rumor, but I do like Lonergan on paper. His basketball resume is weirdly similar to Clawson's football resume.
 
Lonergan would be a good hire. If this was a normal coaching search, I would say he would be the most likely coach Wellman would target.

Starting out as HC right out of the gate and moving up to each higher job with excellent records. Both are mid -40s as well. So they have a lot of experience and still runway ahead. As a headhunter, I see a good potential match.

Lonergan is no Mr and Mrs Enfield, but I still think we could be friends and that at the very least we could have like a bi-monthly couples dinner at a casual restaurant and have a few of those fishbowl margaritas and talk about inopportune moments when our kids have yarfed or our favorite vacation spots and stuff.

RSF, you need to accept the fact we aren't hiring the Italian guy or anyone in his 30s. Once you've done so, you will see that Lonergan is not so bad.

Man, I just LOVE Say Hey's contributions. Had me howling this time last year with the Mr. and Mrs. Enfield comments. Been a tough year for Mr. Enfield, though (although they won one on the road at WSU last night).

since you mentioned him previously, what makes Lonergan a good hire and how does he get the fanbase to give him a Clawson welcome?

This is true. The basketball players have to stand in the middle of our equivalent of Benson and give out cupcakes or tshirts to the students sometimes and ask them to attend games.
