Yeah, Shaka's coming to Wake so he can get Harry Giles since he lives in W-S, win the national championship in year 3 and then just coast.

Giles' talents are best served in an open and running offensive style. Howland doesn't like that style.

We know Harry likes Wake. He likes us enough to come to games with [Redacted] as coach. If we can get a coach he will like to play for and bring his other buddies, we are in a much stronger position to go forward in the ACC.

By having the new coach hit the ground running, we can re-establish the program much quicker. I realize this concept is above the heads of DV7, Racer, WFUtoUSC, w84it and a few others, but it is a basic and logical idea.
 
Giles talents may be for scoring but Howland can sell him on the fact that NBA scouts rate Howland trained players high bc he develops the complementary parts of their game (ala Russell Westbrook)
 
Howland hasn't really developed anyone in the past five years. He did nothing with Westbrook other than put him on the court.

You don't hire a fucking coach based on his style possibly matching that of one recruit 2 years down the road. That is imbecilic!

Which isn't the point at all. The point is that Howland "got him" to the NBA. That's what he'd be selling to Giles.
 
Heck,it was said that Wake led with Westbrook before hometown UCLA finally decided to offer the underrated prospect.
 
If we were debating retaining Dino or Buzz to bring in a couple recruits, the anger against RJ for this point would be justified. But we're talking Shaka v. Howland. And all RJ's saying is that it helps with the pitch to Shaka. Although I'm not entirely sure that Giles wouldn't perk up with Howland and his list of NBA players either.
