Lebron to become free agent

Wasn't this already basically known? Or at least widely expected? Lebron wants to restructure his contract and the other big three deals, explore the possibility of adding Carmelo, and if not Carmelo he wants the Heat to add another major piece. If all of that somehow falls through only then will he start seriously considering options with other teams.

Yep. I still think he stays in Miami.

Wade isn't going to opt out. If he does he is an idiot, because Miami will immediately wish him on his way. Bosh is a 50/50 opt out/stay in I think. He is probably being paid right now just about at market value (perhaps slightly overpaid). If he opts out there is a definite risk he could take a paycut, but there will also be opportunities to secure a long term deal.

Will be interesting to see what happens. I hope that Lebron leaves Wade and Bosh so that I can cheer for him again. I actually don't mind Lebron, but I really can't stand Wade and Bosh. Would love to see Lebron on the 76ers. Would really give himself a chance to win (I like their core), and a chance for him to solidify his legacy as the rest of the young guns would all look to him as the man.

MCW
Lebron
Wiggins (trade 4/10)
Young
Noel

Would be a pretty exciting team to watch. I think they would have just as good a chance if not a better chance to win the East next year as the Heat do.

Cavs are also a nice option:

Kyrie
Waiters
Lebron
Hawes
Varajao

Bench:
Jack
Thompson
Bennett
Miles

Wade will opt out and get a deal friendly to the team in terms of $$$ and friendly to him in terms of years. It will still be more than he deserves but if he opts in, LeBron is gone.

What have you done with Wrangor???

Wade has $41.6M coming to him over the next two years. What would he get for adding a third year that would help the team at all? Do you really think he'll take a 40% pay cut?

God this fantasy roster stuff is already insufferable and it's not even July

You people who think Lebron is even considering Philly are insane. Dude wants to compete immediately. He's only going to another team with 2-3 other superstars. He's afraid to go it alone again.

Brian Windhorst says LeBron opting out now is "an open invitation to impress him, the way the Heat impressed him in 2010." #LIVEonSC

Bosh to Charlotte? He could relive his Toronto days.

From the Zach Lowe LeBron piece, I thought the Phoenix option was really intriguing. Bledsoe, Dragic, and LeBron would be an absolute terror running Hornacek's up-tempo transition game.

But I really don't think LeBron is going anywhere because of the whole not wanting to be seen as a mercenary thing. Going to Cleveland would be okay in that regard, but I can't see him playing for Dan Gilbert and a franchise that doesn't have their act together.

There’s a near-zero chance of this happening, but Phoenix should be a viable landing spot if LeBron wants to earn his actual max on an up-and-coming team with a smart new head coach who favors an exciting style of play.

The Suns have so much cap flexibility, they might be able to sign LeBron to the max, re-sign Eric Bledsoe at close to his (lower) max, and still have max-level cap room in the summer of 2015. They’re flush with extra first-round picks, meaning they’d have weapons to land another star player over the next couple of years.

In the short term, LeBron can take some of the ballhandling duties from Bledsoe and Goran Dragic, give the team the killer low-post threat it lacks on nights Markieff Morris’s midranger isn’t falling, and seal up a below-average defense. The Suns’ two most important rotation big men, Morris and Channing Frye, can shoot from the outside, giving LeBron free rein to occupy the post when he wants.

Having full access to one of the league’s best training staffs is a nice bonus for any player approaching 30 with nearly 28,000 minutes under his belt.

This is one of those ideas that won’t happen simply because it’s too far out of the box. Players don’t have a ton of affection for Robert Sarver, the team’s owner, a lockout hard-liner who went through a draft pick–selling spree in the mid-2000s. (In fairness, the Suns also paid a bit of tax during three separate seasons late in the Nash era.) But wouldn’t this be fun?

The best big 3 in my opinion would be Harden, Howard, and LeBron. All are in their primes, but he would have to actually play in first and second round series to get to the finals.
