Wake Basketball Preseason Discussion

Mclinton is a freak athlete. Can jump out of the gym and is a quick jumper. Also runs like a deer. You will see dunks better than you saw from LD, and Greg is a legit 6'6" barefoot. He is best on the break and as a slasher. But he can go straight up from under the rim to dunk it very quickly. Just a decent outside shooter at this point.

Sounds like Will Singleton.

You're kidding, aren't you? Graves was always a slug.

I guess I'm mistaken. I thought Graves started to show glimpses of athleticism towards the end of his time as a hole. At least got in better shape, right?

Maybe he went from beach ball to merely fat. :)

As Chuck says, "Round is a shape."

There are ways to use Tree. I'm hoping Danny can work them into his game plan.

Mclinton is much better than Singleton was, although Singleton could really dunk it

As of now, Tyler was right. Maybe Devin will get to play in the NIT his senior year. At least he has a chance to with Manning. Devin didn't realize that when he was spouting off and defending Buzz.

that read like Devin was trying to convince himself more than Devin was trying to convince others

Some juicy stuff here as Devin responds to the shots that Cav took as he left Wake.

I thought that was a really good interview by Thomas. He doesn't guarantee anything as far as the season, just says that he is going to try to be more of a leader. Seeing a young kind that wants to hold himself accountable, and at the same time admit he needs to grow up is a great sign. The last words were the most telling for me, and were the biggest issue (of many) that we had under the [name redacted] era.

"So I’m a leader now. I’m going to hold myself accountable. Coach Manning holds me accountable."

I still don't know if Manning is a great coach, but he is a ball coach, and he understands what it takes to win. Hopefully he will have the recruiting and game skills to make us a winner. I am hopeful.

Bet they'll be a little jump in tix sales today once the news gets out....

That stood out for me too. Bzz was all theory. Manning is a doer. I think he cuts through some of the traditional issues we've had as well. If he's as good a game coach as everything else...contender. Cav will be the one with regrets.

Going to be interesting to watch what happens with all these unknown quantities.

I wish we could've held on to Moto....Cav never bothered me much with his decision.
