WFU Soccer:

23 Louisville is up 2-0 against 15 Kentucky about 15:00 in.

ACC play is going to be so competitive this season from top to bottom.

Anyone watching the game vs Elon tonight? Really awful handball call in the box gave Elon a PK near the end of the second (his hand was really behind his back, ball deflected off his hip).. and now a really really bad offside call to disallow an equalizing goal near the start of the second...

Elon wins 1-0.. didn't even take a shot in the second half iirc.

A couple awful calls did us in on this one and Elon did play with a lot of composure when they had to.

Do we lose to Elon every time we play them? Or does it just seem like that?

Tough loss. Elon has played wake well the past several years. Wake is ranked 8 and Elon 18 and both were undefeated, so it's not a terrible loss but a win would have been much cooler.

We beat them in football, they beat us in soccer.
Guess we're even now.

in all seriousness, I hate that we lost

Yeah, that was much less of a handball than Torsten Frings and we know how that was ruled. They played the disallowed goal several times and it was clear that the WFU player was easily onsides. On the other hand, Elon had a lot of experienced european players and a transfer from UNC who all played very smart and very well. The goalie saved an equalizer in the second half with a toe save.

Shot stats were heavily skewed in Wake's favor, but you have to put a couple in the goal.

What's with the trend of crappy little schools like Elon and Akron having kick ass soccer programs?

We put one in but the refs took it away.

I demand instant replay be instituted for all college sports, men's and women's. Immediately, and retroactive to the Elon game.

In all seriousness, I have no idea why FIFA and the big leagues don't use it. It would also put a stop to all the fake dives/injuries if the referees could use instant replay to see if a guy is faking a bad tackle/takedown.

Because soccer is unique with almost constant action. Instant replay would completely change the flow of the game.
