BBall Recruiting Thread 2k16- SJM, Washington, Childress & Mitchell sign NLIs; 2017?

21% of the people on 247 are still showing him as going to UNC. No one knows anything at this point except for Harry Giles.

Exactly. And he's the best recruit I've ever seen at talking a lot without ever really revealing that much

Just going by his video interview you would say Wake leads but there is a ways to go and the smart money is still on Duke.

Your typical IC poster:

The Dook fans I have seen in the later rounds of the ACCT in Greensboro look worse than that.

Here's a riddle for you.

Q: What has 2000 legs and 7 teeth?

A: IC

Updated 247 composite rankings came out today. Some interesting notes on previous Wake targets

Look how many guys have dropped out of 4* range and the top 100:
Eli Wright #135. 3*
John Mooney #134. 3*
Josh Hall #130. 3*
Eddie Ekiyor #128. 3*
Kwe Parker #125. 3*
Koby McEwen #123. 3*
And somehow Rodney Miller remains in the top 100 despite barely playing basketball all year. Go figure

How about our commits?

I have not done the math, but it seems to me that Wake has more NBA players than Duke. Going to Duke does not insure a long and productive NBA career. Harry can have that no matter where he goes.

Lol, you basically just contradicted yourself.

How about our commits?

Mathias is a 4* #89 and Donovan Mitchell, Richard Washington, and Brandon are all 3* in that order. Mitchell is #171, Washington #200 and Brandon #224. If Childress is our lowest ranked recruit, then I feel pretty good about this class quality wise

Childress down from 171 to 224
Washington up from 212 to 200
Donovan Mitchell up from 235 to 171
SJM down from 87 to 89

Duke has 19 current NBA players to Wake's 6. Although, if you want to talk about the impact of those players, then CP3, TD, and Teague > all of the Duke players in the NBA (Excluding Kyrie. Dude played like 3 games at Duke).

Wait so Harry's visit schedule is...
Oct 16 Kentucky
Oct 23 no one (B&GM??)
Oct 30 Duke

I assume Kansas is this coming weekend?

Black and Gold Madness scheduled for 10/23 weekend :willynilly:

bold strategy. play less basketball and give scouts less tape to downgrade you with.

Childress down from 171 to 224
Washington up from 212 to 200
Donovan Mitchell up from 235 to 171
SJM down from 87 to 89

ESPN has Childress as the 31st best PG and Washington as the 25th ranked SF. Assuming the distribution of positions for the top 100 is consistent with the population, this would put Childress at #163 overall and Washington at #139. Also, they have Childress as the 6th ranked 3* PG and Washington as the 4th ranked 3* SF. So both guys are creeping up towards 4 star ranks. I know ppl shit on ESPN recruiting coverage (and deservedly so) but nice to see our guys getting some love!

Has anyone seen Childress play? All the online stuff I've watched shows that he's got a tight handle and legit range. I assume he's faced off against some serious talent and even though he's an early wake commit if he were tearing it up I still feel like analysts would boost his rankings. Any insight?

I am curious about this, as well. I assume it may have something to do with size and athleticism and how that translates to ceiling. Where was Tyler Lewis ranked in comparison? I ask because those were surely concerns with him, as well. Thanks

huh, only the 13th mention of tyler lewis on the 2016 recruiting class thread

would have thought there had been more, considering what a relevant topic it is

I do think Tyler Lewis has a similar physical profile to Childress. I think Lewis was seen as a more dynamic passer/playmaker and Childress is supposed to be a better shooter. Lewis was much more highly ranked at 43 in the RSCI and a surprise McD AA.
