HP's UNC-Cheat Thread - UNC comes out on top, NCAA penalized by UNC

You still haven't admitted that you were wrong about Benghazi (at least not that I saw, apologies if you have), so I don't anticipate you admitting you were dead wrong about this one either once it doesn't break the way your fairy tale dreams are making you think it will.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! :wiggle:

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! :wiggle:

I like that you are comparing the preventable murders of an American ambassador, two former SF security contractors and their IT guy with easy AFAM classes.

One of course is a embarrassing and preventable management failure with life and death consequence and a shameful cover-up that was clumsily thrown together, hard to believe in even the best light and ultimately debunked, while the other involved a consulate. Have I got that right?

And some of us saw it coming.

CALIFORNIA (Public Report June 26, 2002)

The Charges: Cal's football program came under fire for a series of violations from 1997-2001. Players retroactively added classes and took part in academic fraud, while others were found guilty of accepting impermissible benefits for lodging. In total the charges from the NCAA were unethical conduct; academic fraud; academic ineligibility; failure to withhold ineligible student-athletes from competition; impermissible extra benefits; recruiting inducements and lack of institutional control.

The Penalties: Five years of probation; post-season ban for the 2002 season; the loss of nine grants-in-aid from 2002-03 through 2005-06; vacation of records from the 1999 season.

GEORGIA TECH (Public Report Nov. 17, 2005)

The Charges: Violations of ineligible participation and a lack of institutional control were issued after academic advisors and the registrar improperly certifyied 17 student-athletes as eligible for competition. The charges spanned six years and involved football, cross country (men's and women's), track (men's and women's, both indoor and outdoor), and swimming (men's and women's).

The Penalties: There was a loss of grants-in-aid in all affected sports for two academic years, as well as the vacation of all wins involving the ineligible student-athletes. There was also a two-year probation issued to the school, but no postseason bans in any sports.

I'm not comparing the awful events that happened at the Benghazi consulate to this academic/athletic fraud situation. I'm comparing how you were so brazen and assured that you had it all figured out that even after facts continued to present themselves contrary to your per-conceived notions that you chose (or will choose, in UNCs case) to ignore them.

So I say again...

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! :wiggle:

If I remember correctly, I read that we should expect 6 months between UNC submitting their response to the Notice of Allegations and the announcement of sanctions. UNC's response was originally due on August 18. They announced on August 14th that they needed more time because they uncovered new violations (soccer and women's BB). At the time, UNC said that they thought they could complete their review within 60 days - which would have been October 14th. After they complete their review, UNC gets ANOTHER 90 days to amend their response. That would mean that the response would be due January 14th. That could put the best estimate of any announcement on sanctions/penalties all the way out to July 2016.

It sure seems to me like we are waiting on UNC at this point - not the NCAA.

And the teacher in question:http://corollaries.unc.edu/2013/02/08/rachel-bayless-receives-tanner-teaching-assistants-award/

Ph.D. candidate Rachel Bayless has been selected to receive a prestigious 2013 Tanner Teaching Assistants Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, as selected by the University Committee on Teaching Awards. Rachel’s selection for this award was driven in part by enthusiastic praise from her students...Rachel was recognized publicly in a half-time ceremony at last Saturday’s men’s basketball game

You can't make this stuff up.
