College Bball Thread

When is the last time a P5 team went winless in conference in both football and basketball in the same academic year?

I went back 5 years and found nothing. There were only a handful of winless in basketball. You could count DePaul in 2009 as they technically didn't win a football game that year...

I guess getting rid of Skinner and Jagodzinski wasn't such a good idea. Both guys had BC playing for conference championships. Was that by the same AD? And is he still there?

It was by the same AD and he retired a few years ago.

That same AD also had a toxic relationship with Tom O'Brien, which is one of the reasons why TOB tried to leave for many years before he took the NCSU job.

It has NOT happened from 2002 to the present. That's as far as the kenpom database goes. Since 2002, only three power V teams have gone winless in basketball conference games:

- Texas A&M in he Big 12 in 2004
- Oregon State in the Pac 10 in 2008
- TCU in the Big 12 in 2014

All of those schools had bowl seasons in football those years.

Over the same time period (2002 to present), the most pathetic combined football/basketball record that I could find was Indiana in 2009. In the wake of the Kelvin Sampson scandal, they went 1-17 in basketball and 1-7 in football. (2-24). BC has a great shot to beat that mark of futility. FWIW, WF is currently 2-16 in those two sports; so, the Deacs still have some work to go to avoid tying Indiana. :)

Yeah, I think apathy is the most prevalent mood. I still only watch Wake when we're on (don't go out to a sports bar any more), and I'm only kinda morbidly interested because we're still horrible fundamentally on both ends of the court. The climactic meltdown was keeping Buzzdick after the 2nd or 3rd year, and now we're just in the depressed denouement.

According to Wake's Dr. Best, it's termed "learned helplessness" and we certainly have been learned to feel helpless over these many years. :(

Enfield and hot wife looking good.

1990 Northwestern went 1-25 combined. 0-18 basketball and 1-7 in football.

Well at least we now have a clear goal for the season - DON'T be BC's one ACC win...

Louisville press conference just called with University President, AD and Pitino. Interesting.

Pitino has been saying all year about how lucky Damion Lee and Trey Lewis are to get to come to Louisville for one year and experience big time basketball in a big time program. Man did those two get fucked over hard.
