Men's Golf

Kupcho could get some tv time tonight. On the west coast and today's round is being televised for a bit in prime time. She goes off at 5 PM EST with the other two individual women also at -7 in a T2. The Duke individual with a six shot lead goes off 10 minutes prior as Duke is in third place overall right now.

Yeah definitely a great move by the USGA. I didn't realize it until looking at the results but I've run into Matt Finger and Scott Shingler a few times here in the DC area. Great players, cool to see their teams made it to match play.

I've played with Matt. Good player.

Four ball is a funny game. One of the finalist teams last year had two players who were ranked outside the top 2000 in the WAGR.

Also, the WAGR is skewed heavily towards college players, so don't read too much into the rankings. Christovich and Rank are two of the best Mid Ams in the country and will give our guys fits.

Your boy Scott Harvey is the No. 2 seed. Not sure if you saw that or not.

Yeah. His team was medalist last year and almost did it again this year. I think Scott has something like 3 or 4 medals from stroke play at USGA events so far. Unreal the level those guys play at.

Shingler lost in a playoff in the VSGA four ball, played a couple of weeks ago at my club. I think he was playing with someone else though.

They lost to one of the 3 or 4 best mid am teams in the field.

Looks like they were -5 through 15 and 2 down. That's brutal at Winged Foot/everywhere.

Yeesh. They shot -4 on the back 9 and lost the back 9 two down.

Their opponent shot 8 under for 17 holes.

The course must be setup for birdies because a lot of teams are going low today. Harvey/Mitchell just birdied 5 straight par 4's in the middle of their round.

I'm just glad the USGA is letting people score birdies at Winged Foot for once
