Wake Baseball

Also, had to win the game at hand to even worry about winning the championship game so no need to preserve pitching.

3 seed in college station region. Play Minnesota 1st round. Match up with TCU region.

I'm just glad we're in. The "experts" thought we would make it, but you never know about these types of things

I'm not an expert, but I guess there's not that much difference in being a 2 or a 3. I'm surprised that UVA is hosting a regional - They should have been a 2 imho

May I don't feel sorry for Carolina at all but it is ridiculous that they're not in the NCAA tournament.

Format question:

For the double elimination round - once it down to a 2-0 team playing a 2-1 team - that would mean the 2-1 team would have to win 2 in a row correct? Is that played as a double header or dragged out over 2 days?

Ugh! Closest deacs have been to Austin in any sport (other than a tennis match when I was gone) and I'm out of town.

Great RPI, but they didn't make conference tournament. That's enough to justify keeping them out without much discussion or controversy. But I hope they are crying and bitching right now.

This was a Sellers pitching line against Va Tech two weeks ago.

That's a fairly arbitrary use of a pitching line, Chris, for someone who's usually fairly sensible.

Here's Sellers' line just a week ago against the No. 2 seed in the entire tournament:

Donnie Sellers 2.0 0 0 0 0 1 0 0

He wasn't trying to get cute. He planned on using Dunshee for the 8th and 9th. Extending three innings after throwing 108 Tuesday wasn't optimal. Sellers is a guy that's been counted on all season. It didn't work, so therefore it's wrong is a pretty lazy argument.

Sellers ERA is also nearly six and his BAA against (.277) is the 2nd highest of any Wake reliever with 10 or more appearances. The Louisville appearance is the aberration Sellers has been mediocre at best, bad at worst this season. Yet, Walter still tries to force him into the role of shutdown reliever. Walters may be doing so because of a lack of other options, but Sellers has proven it's a role he can't fill (at least at this point in his career).

Solid point on the ERA, for sure. I hadn't realized it has climbed that high, but in the small sample size that is the college baseball season it doesn't take but a couple really poor relief appearances to spike that number.
