NBA Off-season thread: Duncan and Garnett retire

KG, Duncan and Kobe is a helluva HOF class. But something tells me you won't see the 3 of them sitting around together and enjoying a joint interview like Shaq, Iverson and Ming did this year.

honestly might be the best piece of content to come out of the Ringer so far.

"And there's a revelation... oh my god, LeBron James is trash"

there are more simmons jerseys than embiid jerseys around the city, but damn if embiid doesn't come up every time you talk about philly sports

The Embiid video was pretty good, but man Simmons took me out of it.

The list of Hipster Teams was very good.

I really want Embiid to be all-star good.

Feel like the Bucks are a borderline NBA mini-hipster team among serious fans.

i'm strongly considering going to the opener, even tho tix are >$100 for uppers and the second game are like $5 for the same seats

i just really wanna be there for the embiid intro

Embiid has been touted as the centerpiece of the post "Hinkie tanking" rebuild. I don't think anyone thought it would be two years before he would play a competitive game. The expectation was for him to play a limited role last year, to see what he could do, and then go all out this year with Saric, and the previous years' draft picks. By luck of the lottery draw, the Sixers pieces don't look like they fit together all that well. Bret Brown will earn his salary this year trying to make that happen, unless the front office gets him some different pieces.

One or more of Noel, Okafor, Saric, Embiid, Simmons will be gone before the deadline. Most likely one of the first two. Brown will earn his salary trying to figure out who to play together to determine who to keep.

If Embiid is healthy, there is no place for Noel nor does it seem he'd be happy as a back-up to Embiid. Okafor will have to go is Embiid is able to play 30 mpg by February. Okarfor will not be a happy camper as a back-up.

Unless Brett Brown can figure out a way for Saric to play SF on D, Saric/Simmons could be a problem as well. Simmons can't shoot well enough to play SF.

Who is the most hipster team besides the Bucks, T-Wolves, Sixers. Blazers? Raptors?

There can't be too many hipster teams. Other candidates:

- Thunder with Bestbrook, Adams, and Oladipo
- Utah
- Brad Stevens' team

Thunder are too mainstream now.
Utah is too Mormon.
Celtics are too establishment.

Do people associate the Jazz with Mormonism? I sure don't. Those Stockton-Malone teams have no Mormon elements in my mind.
