Official '16-17 NBA Thread: not with a bang but a whimper

Watching Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kristaps Porzingis play against each other just makes me feel good about the future.

They are both incredible. Add embiid and towns to that list as well. The future of the NBA is 6'11" and up.

Embiid has scored 20 or more in each of his last six without playing as many as 30 minutes in any of them. Since the NBA began recording minutes played (1951-52), Embiid is the first player to do this.

Presumably because players as good as he is don't play that few minutes.

In terms of quality matchups, I'd take the Western Conference standings right now but I'd flip the Jazz and Thunder at 6 and 7.

Warriors-Blazers
Spurs-Jazz
Rockets-Thunder
Clips-Griz

Lots of symmetry and great individual matchups. The 2nd round would have some great mismatches especially if the favorites win.

think i'd rather play the clips right now than memphis. they just beat curry up the whole game and by the 4th we're completely out of the offense. maybe i'm overreacting to the loss fri, but it was ugly in the 4th. granted the reserves were what really killed us that quarter, but we still had a double-digit lead when the starters came back in. the offense was brutal when they re-entered.

i don't fully understand why this happened but i'm very happy that it did

Pretty sure he just thought Crowder was pulling the ball up to pass it across to Smart and was trying to kick the ball. Though I'm sure you were hoping for some sort of metrosexual Riverdance homage.

sure just seems like he could have accomplished that without the riverdance

Isn't riverdance appropriate for a team called the Celtics?

Rockets-Thunder or Rockets-Jazz will be fantastic series. The mid-90s Rockets-Jazz matchups created so much bad blood and ill will that most Houston fans still consider the Jazz a hated rival. (Presumably, the Jazz feel the same way, but idk).

Oh yea and palma the Sixers are 3-1 in the last four with HOF Oak sitting out three games and playing ten minutes in the other. They're an elite defense without him and don't need his scoring. Kinda think he may suck.

Are we sure the Sixers aren't just trying to resurrect Nerlen's trade value?

the sixers 3 wins include a win vs the worst team in the west, the worst team in the east and the Denver nuggets. Had you gone to Duke you'd have the mental intellect to not make such a flawed logical argument.
