2016 Panthers Thread: MOVING ON

The Saints traded Cooks and picked up Ginn. Woof.

Michael Thomas looks like he's gonna be a stud, and they have some decent other options. Cooks seemed expendable.

I like the move by the Saints, though I would've liked it more if they could've somehow pried Malcolm Butler loose. That was probably too much to get in return, though

He's getting surgery on his labrum so maybe drops to the early second

The Pats got Cooks and a 4th from the Saints for their 1st and 3rd.

So for their first three picks, they got Cooks, Ealy, a high 3rd and a high 4th.

Unless you rate Cooks particularly highly, this seems like a waste of a 1st and 2nd.

Cooks will produce, but so will the litany of other FAs and low picks they play at WR. That's because of Brady. They gave up a 1st and 2nd when they could have spent those on positions that Brady can't cover, like DB or LB.

I don't think it's a great yield. But they're not always going to have Brady. They may be thinking about the future.

I'm not really sure how you guys don't rate Cooks that high....he is a legit Top 10 WR, and has had at least 1100 yds & 8 TDs in each of the last two years. And now he's going to a title contender and another extremely proficient offense. He will easily best 1100/8 next year if he and Brady stay healthy.

The Pats basically traded their 1st Rounder for a potential Top 5 WR (easy trade), and traded back 8 spots and picked up Ealy, while still having two 3rd round picks.

I think they made out pretty well. Saints did too as they now have #11, #32, #42. Panthers have #8 and #40 and lost Ealy.

I see GMan trading a combo of those two 2nd rounders or #40 and #96 to move up and draft one of the OT's toward the end of the 1st Round

Not a huge fan of trading Ealy away. He had a bad year, last season but had we won the Superbowl, He would have been MVP. He's entering the prime of his career and we seem content to replace him with a 37 year old... Maybe Gman's plan is to draft another end? I'm always hesitant of trading with Pats. They Don't usually give up as much as they get...

Cooks is the exact type of receiver that will thrive in the patriots offense and what they have been missing since moss.

Damn I'm sick of hearing about Moss. Moss Moss Moss. Every day after soccer or basketball or baseball practice all the kids "Can we play Moss, can we play Moss". Let's go! No we're playing Moss. Until invariably someone gets hit in the head. If I never hear Randy Moss' name again I will be happy. Rant over.
