2024 College Basketball Coaching Carousel

Normally, the L'ville fanbase would place unrealistic expectations on their coach, but given their recent 25-71 (11-49) run, moderate success out of Kelsey will be appreciated.... In the short run.

I want Forbes to succeed but hoping Kelsey would’ve held out one more year so we could go after him if necessary since next year a make or break year

i guess we'll find out if kelsey is any good
What does this even mean? Anyone paying attention at Wake knew he was GREAT 20 years ago. Since then, he's guided 2 schools to the dance MULTIPLE times. Kelsey could never win a game at Louisville and he's had a far better career than any Coach at Wake since Odom.

We all knew this. Now the rest of the world knows it. We can't let opporunities like this keep passing us by. We have to identify younger talent and make them our head coach before they get better jobs.

I still say Kevin Giltner and Justin Gray are the next versions of Pat Kelsey and Wes Miller. Pat and Wes now have top 20 jobs. We are not a top 40 job. We cannot wait to pull the trigger until folks get old and fat.

it means if i want an opinion on how to best chase an ambulance i'll ask you, but if i'm evaluating basketball coaches i think you're a fucking idiot

People should be happy for Pat Kelsey. It's the best win this late in March that anyone associated with Wake basketball has had in quite some time.

Bold prediction. If we miss the tourney next season I'd be stunned if we keep him.
Be prepared to be stunned. WF already extened Forbes through at least 2029. His buy-out is big, and the WF money loves him. There is no avenue for to WF buy-out Forbes contract and offer big contract to the next candidate (as in, where is the money going to come from that will write an 8 figure check to pay Forbes to leave? -- the WF money is busy funding NIL and facilities upgrades; there's no pot of money left to throw at Forbes and another coach).

The only ways that Forbes isn't coaching WF next year are:

  • Health
  • Scandal
  • Forbes wins so big that another school offers him
If WF has a year anything close to the last three, he will be back in 2025-6 and the year after that.

Wes Miller is a very poor to mediocre coach.

Don't forget that Huggins also has homophobic baggage in addition to his alcoholism and racist baggage. What a guy!
