Wake Forest Twitter Thread aka Coach Scheier wins the Internet

Some of you need to get a grip. Just because somebody disagrees with you they aren't a coward.

The complete debacle during Ovie's senior season will always remain a head-scratcher.

I think you're having a tough time with the difference between causation and correlation.

I agree with this soooo much. I have sat through many 1-10 and 2-9 seasons and Grobe changed that. I love what Grobe has done for the program, but I am not happy with the OC and DC right now, but I am really scared of going back to what we use to be.

Agreed. There are ways to be critical without devolving everything into a pissing contest.

I will be forever grateful to Jim Grobe for what he has done for Wake Forest football and I will never forget it, but sometimes you have to make an executive decision that is hard to make. That's why Ron Wellman and Jim Grobe are paid the big bucks. Right now they are not doing that and the money is going to waste. That's why I am so frustrated with everything.

Just curious if you're hearing anything related to this stuff.

haven't heard anything yet but from talking to many of the players....One of the biggest problems with this program that no one is really talking about is ethan reeves. He is a complete idiot who has a wrestling back round and has no clue when it comes to football training. Just look at the players at the begining of the season then at the end. They shrink! The worst part about about it is that he makes them work their ass off during the season so they are all over trained. They all do the same workout..... lineman, backs all do the same workout. The nutrition with this program is trash. They are fed hot dogs and chips after practice. They are over worked and malnutritioned. (sp) This is a tired team each and every week that shows up on saturday. Reeves breaks them down in the weight room and Grobe has gone to pads all week for 18 periods on mon-thursday. Common sense has left the building... Oh and btw Knorr has to go. Injuries can be used as an excuse for the offense but not defense. he is clueless and the players do not believe in him for one second.

How long have you been following Wake football RSF? If your answer is only since Grobe has been the HC then STFU, because anyone who witnessed what happened prior to Grobe knows that is completely different then what we have seen these last four years even as bad they were.

Lots of excuses for the sunshine brigade...

Just think we all need to have some perspective. If we fired Grobe, most people outside of the Wake Forest bubble would say "what the hell are you doing???". This is a traditionally terrible program that has been stabilized and has had some success. Firing Grobe and expecting to land somebody who a) would actually want to come to Wake (small pool), and b) would be able to be more successful than Grobe (history has shown this to be an even smaller pool), is a HUGE gamble. I think Grobe needs to make an executive decision and change his coordinators... and this does happen at other programs. Maybe not in the same offseason all the time, but Les Miles comes to mind who changed his OC and DC in a short period of time.

Wait is this for real? I've heard rumors that our conditioning was bad when Bilitch left, but if this is true, WTF is happening to our program?

No doubt and very true.

That being said, Grobe's recent slide doesn't seem like it's going to change anytime soon, so what else is there to do? Do we wait until 2018 until he's ready to retire? I'm not sure we're still in the ACC if that happens.

Interesting.

Also, as I am sure everyone knows Auburn fired their coach today less than two years after winning a national championship. The ACC title in 2006 was great, but this program has been in a progressive decline since that time. The buck stops with one person.

There is a way to be appreciative of Grobe's advancement of the program while also recognizing that it's his time to go. I don't understand why that distinction is still so hard for some to make. The Orange Bowl appearance shouldn't have guaranteed a lifetime contract, and it should have raised expectations and benchmarks for the program. Instead, Grobe's (still) getting repeated reprieves from certain portions of the fan base, and the program has regressed since '06, rather than evolved. What he is doing here is not impossible. If somebody really believes that no other coach can get ACC-worst recruiting classes or back into 5 or 6 win seasons, then they're not worth talking to. And that doesn't even acknowledge Grobe's horrendous in-game decision making, or his coordinators' playcalling, or his sudden loss of the players off the field.

Last year we were a play away from playing from the ACC championship game. In 2005, this board was ready to fire him also.

I'm telling you guys. This is bigger than any other problem in our program. You wonder why guys are missing tackles, have "no fire" this guy has to be the first one to go!

I don't know, that's such a tough question, especially with a sort of iconic guy like Grobe who has had unprecedented success at Wake. I want to win some damn football games. Ultimately it's up to him to make good personnel decisions and get this thing turned around, but I think he can get it done. You make good points.

That's fine, but we weren't good then and we didn't lay the foundation for success based on that success for this year... I agree with you in 2005 (I lurked on Scout), but I think last year is very different, FWIW.
