2016 College football thread

He'd come closer to winning at LSU.

Yeah there is always gonna be more talent at LSU than there ever will be at Louisville. How Miles was never able to get at least 1 stud QB on campus while he was there is mind boggling. Whoever gets the job, this is one place where the cupboard is slam full of talent minus the QB. Petrino, Briles, or Herman could produce a quality QB in short order.

Petrino really owes Louisville for taking him back after the way he left and the troubles that followed him after he left, however Petrino's track record suggests loyalty is not really something he cares about.

Yea he does but if your agent gets a phone call from LSU, are you going to tell him that you'll pass? Petrino making about 3.5 mil a year and Miles was at 4.3 with another 5.4 going to his staff (that's the highest in the nation for a staff) so they could offer Petrino whatever amount he wanted. Night games at the REAL Death Valley vs games at anytime at Louisville is a no brainer.

Of course not, I'm just saying that this isn't a normal situation given Petrino's history with Louisville, but as I stated I think Petrino would jump ship in a heartbeat if it's something he wants to do.

He's actually paid $3.9M at Louisville, and his staff is paid at least $3.8M. And, remember, he hasn't even had a double digit win season in this stint. Fair bet both of those numbers will go up this off-season, if he's pursued.

And there's a $10M buyout.

In spite of how well they've played, still a little surprised Loui is favored at Clemson

Really interesting game from a betting perspective. During the Summer, sportsbooks post lines on anticipated big games during the season. In July, the line on Louisville at Clemson was Clemson -10 (you can only take the pre-season lines before the first game of week #1).

When Vegas released the weekly lines for this week, Clemson was -2.5, all of the sharp action came down on L'ville, and the line has moved to L'ville -2. Power teams like Clemson who are home dogs (or even small favorites) cover more than they don't. That said, L'ville may be one of those sick offensive teams that the linemakers can't adjust to fast enough. L'ville is AVERAGING 63+ points per game, and has blown away the spread in all 4 of their games, and honestly, L'ville could have scored more in every one of their games. At this point, hard to put a ceiling on how good they are. On top of that, Clemson's offense has really struggled in all 3 of their FBS games: 19 versus Auburn, 30 versus Troy, 26 versus GT.

Death Valley at night will be rocking, but L'ville seems unstoppable. Fascinating game.

Good post...I do believe they pushed vs. Marshall, though (line was 31). Will be interesting to see how they play in their first real hostile environment of the season (no offense to the crowds at Syracuse or Marshall, but it's going to be a different beast this weekend).

Washington is really fun to watch. Could see them become the new Oregon in the Pac-12 with Petersen.

Yeah I was just coming to post this. Pederson is a boss.

Also heard somewhere that McCaffrey has zero offensive TDs on the road in his career. Didn't verify but that sounds crazy.

#6 from Washington has some incredible balance. Dude has been spinning out of tackles all night.

I think Louisville is going to ruin Clemson like Washington did to Stanford.

I've been going back and forth on this game. I think FSU did Clemson a huge favor. The noles underestimated UL, and Clemson will not. Im taking Clemson.

I see your reasoning, but we don't know that they underestimated them. Lamar Jackson was already a national story by then. They may have just gotten beaten straight up.

I don't know about all that. Night game at Death Valley is gonna be insane. I like the Tigers

The atmosphere is going to be great. No doubt. So far Louisville looks like a national championship contender and Clemson looks like a top 15 team who hasn't faced great competition yet.

I was in Knoxville on Wednesday evening and went to Calhoun's on the River. Turns out that UT was having the call-in show with Butch Jones that night. No big deal. But the confidence level in Knoxville is insanely high right not. Not just because they're playing a Georgia team they should beat (-3), but things like, "What are we going to do if Butch goes to Notre Dame?" shit. i guess a big part of that is due to there being little else to do in Knoxville except be a Vols fan (and fuck your sister).

ETA: It will be great if UGA finds a way to win this weekend, then TU goes on the road against a pretty good Texas A&M team before hosting Alabama. Sad Vols fans.
