Ongoing Dem Debacle Thread: Commander will kill us all

What would the Republicans do if the situation was reversed? They’d sit on their hands and do nothing today, just like the Democrats did. And revel in all the “Dems in disarray” talk. I’m tired of being nice, sane, and trying to save the country while the Republicans are flushing it down the toilet.

Dems would offer up a "blue dog" Dem as speaker as a concession (perhaps without Republicans asking for a concession, because you know, Dems gotta Dem.) Republicans would vote against them, and then use their right wing media to paint that Dem as a radical socialist intent on destroying America.

I am not delusional. I think there are a lot of Pubs that actually want a shutdown. I think they want to disrupt governance. What I’m saying is, McCarthy is not managing those crazy pubs effectively so what does it matter who is in charge. Plus, I think chaos in the GOP is a good thing come November 24.

Also I think the tone in your post is shitty. Using words like dumb and naive to describe other people’s opinion is dumb. Unless it’s Angus, that guy is legit dumb.
I apologize for calling your opinion dumb. It’s very clear that house Democrats didn’t consider McCarthy’s push to vote creditworthy. I haven’t really seen any discussion of the repercussions, for Democrats, of letting McCarthy lose the vote. I strongly worry that his replacement will be worse.

Is Fitzpatrick really a moderate? I can't figure him out given that he basically ran pretending to be his (incumbent) brother in 2016, and has just been trying hard to hold the bipartisan image since knowing that he's in a district that voted for Clinton/Biden. I have no idea what he actually believes. (Not that I've made much of an effort to try, tbh.)
He has at least seemed reasonable in a lot of his stances and broken from Pubs several times, but no idea if he's legit. Believes in climate change which puts him in the 1% on that side of the aisle. I think he's pro gun control, supports same sex marriage, anti-Russia, anti-Trump. Seems about as moderate as exists in the House. I don't think Dems will make any moves, but I'd be floating that idea to him.

Worse how? Keep in mind McCarthy got 210 votes. He’s the clear choice of the GOP. His replacement will have to be someone who works for them too. But more importantly, what could a replacement do that would be demonstratively worse than McCarthy?

Letting the US default on its debt?

Shutting down the government?

Those would be worse than so far.

I think the Dems should do this now. Offer up a Midwest Bluedog Dem and see if you can get 6 or 8 pubs to support them to end the chaos. Not switch parties but temporarily support a centrist or even right of center Democrat. There are plenty of socially liberal fiscally conservative democrats to choose from. Offer one up now as a compromise speaker.

At the very least, I think it is good strategy to vote out McCarthy then consider letting him back in after a couple rounds of embarrassing chaotic votes in the house before seeing what kind of concessions he is willing to offer for a few Democrat Votes.

So sell out Hakeem Jeffries by putting up a conservative white guy to appease fictional “moderate” Republicans?

It’s not that much different than wanting Biden to drop Kamala for Newsome.

It's probably just my distrust showing, I assume all that is because he knows he's in a district where he needs a bipartisan / independent image to remain in office :ROFLMAO:. His signage in the area describes him as an "independent voice" in Congress.

Glad to know you all can help Pop search for that reasonable Pub he can vote for.

I do look forward to pops’ post in a couple of weeks bashing Biden’s weakness in allowing this McCarthy stuff to happen and shutting down the house.

Are all the blue dogs white?

So McCarthy actually compromised with Dems and loses his job over it. Sounds about right for our system.

Are all the blue dogs white?
Are there any blue dogs?

Without doing a search, there aren't many midwestern House Dems and they're from the cities.

I’ll answer my own question. The co-chairs are a white guy from Maine, a Latina woman from Washington and a Native American woman from Alaska. How about we drop the Midwest thing and nominate that Native American lady? That would be cool.
