Press Conference

There is a good chance the whole thing is pushed to next week. Why?
1. Bz has about 10 days to reach out to his NBA contacts and find someone to take him in. That way he can say "blah-blah new challenges in the NBA"
2. Quite possibly the coach(es) at the top of Wellman's list will have their seasons over, and be ready to talk about new opportunities.
3. Wellman's tournament duties will be at low ebb. His big job was chairing the selection process, which ended Sunday. He now has to go and watch the match-ups his committee made. Busy week this week for that, not nearly so busy next week. It's Indy, New York, Memphis or Anaheim. Three are easy flights from Greensboro.
4. As mentioned above, Wellman would prefer a short time between the announcement of a vacancy and the announcement of a new hire.
5. Wellman doesn't care what these boards think about his process. He will do it his own way.

So if the 4 'assistants' are Nix, Battle, Chill and Rusty, if two are to be fired that would mean at least one of either Battle, Rusty or Chill has to be going. Good lord, how much does Ron think the fanbase can take before we march on his office with pitchforks? No one has given more to the program than Battle, and Chill and Rusty (whether they are good coaches or not) are beloved home-team heroes. He would seriously have to be trolling us at that point - wouldn't he?

Per John Feinstein's sources, Wake will not be firing Jeff [Redacted]

@KennyKeller_CSN They will, according to the source, fire 2 assistant coaches instead of JB

Whether the target replacement coaches are still coaching in the tourney doesn't have to impact the process - other than any actual in-person interview, all discussions are held with the agent anyway - with only short briefings needed between the coach and the agent.

Maybe not, but, if you think attendance at games and DC donations were bad this year, just wait...

wait what? sadly buzz has steadly improved, with (super lame "big") wins this year and an ACCT win. if we win any more games, we'll probably get more tiny crowds, but slightly less tiny. some large donors probablystill back him

Bzzz's contract is the thing that seals it for me. He has one year left - there are only two choices here, get rid of him or extend him. To keep him without extending would go against all common logic known by all ADs everywhere. I know Ron's behavior during this whole Buzz-aster has been strange but do we really think he has strayed that far off of the beaten path? As for an extension, I cannot even get my mind around that one...

There may be some people that would be fine with keeping him, but, the great majority of the fanbase is assuming he is gone. Keeping him, IMO, would be the last straw for lots of people - indicating that Wake really does not care about winning or competing - so why should they care about attending games or supporting the program?

So true. Most of those on this board are too cheap or LOWF to even take a baby step like contributing to a billboard. Many would rather sit around with their finger up their butt criticizing somebody else who IS doing something.

It is not a good sign for the program when newspaper articles about other schools say: "Another ACC coach bites the dust . . . and it's still not [Redacted]".

Another quote from that article...
"There is a possibility that as many as two other coaches could be on the way out, though there has yet to be any indication from either Georgia Tech or Wake Forest on the futures of Brian Gregory and the incredibly resilient [Redacted]."
Facepalm
