Presumably OFFICAL 2015/16 Premier League - Leicester CHAMPS. Best Sports Story Ever

You can't deny that Leicester has gone full Pulis since Christmas. It was just Huth and Morgan hoooooooooofing it up to Vardy and holding on for 1-0 wins for darn near 2 solid months. It's going to win them the league (and in Spain, a fairly similar style might win it for Atletico) but it's far from "cultured". The free flowing Leicester that scored all those goals before Christmas has totally disappeared the 2nd half of the season.

A little better timeline here than in previous posts, and an acknowledgment of Lester's "we'll just outscore you" approach to the first half, though "darn near 2 solid months" does not equal "since Christmas." They were at a 2 goal a game pace for a stretch from late Jan-early March until their own draw vs WBA happened and they went into "let's protect the title mode."

Claudio may not have tinkered with his players but he did with the team's tactics and whether you liked it or not it has worked. Poch should learn some lessons about varying the approach

Yep, and in fact you could make an argument that winning the league while utilizing two distinct philosophies is even more impressive. Can't really call them a one trick pony when you concede they've changed styles.

Also, here's a good team analysis on Leicester, to see where they're coming from. It's a little more nuanced than having a main game plan that was basically playing for throws in the opposition half, fouling persistently, and creating chaos in the opposition penalty area (though Fuchs does have a good long throw and that can be used pretty effectively). Counter attacking and focus on transitions -- breaking at pace -- which both Leicester and Atletico do, is a lot different than what Pulis does, and Pulis probably would have had no idea what to do with a player like Mahrez (or Vardy or Kante, for that matter). How can you be bored watching Leicester or Atletico play? It's great. So different than Pulis.

Anyway, this is just a good site in general, if you're interested in long(ish) form tactical pieces.

Pet pedantic peeve, especially with the British press. Ö is effectively a shortcut way of writing Oe (dates from medieval times saving page space).

So it's either Özil or Oezil, and any good style guide will insist on that. The British press in particular is awful with this lazy asshattery.

Just to one-up your pet pedantic peeve, since Ö is an "O" with an umlaut to represent the diphthong (the runic ethel) -- and not an "O" with diaeresis -- it is technically a printing convention and not a manuscript abbreviation. Therefore, the lazy asshattery of your "dates from medieval times" (a degree of irony here!) is misleading.

dont appeal. sit out rest of the season. its over anyway.

if you appeal and it isnt decided until next monday then you miss the opening match next year. would be dumb.

Alli does not contest charge, likely suspended the rest of the season. Hopefully he learns where the line is.

Liverpool team: Mignolet, Clyne, Toure, Lovren, Moreno, Lucas, Allen, Milner, Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino #LFC

Not having the spine of your team (Fatty McFatface, Can, Henderson, Origi) is tough.

I like that Klopp is starting Allen and Lucas. Had thought he might use only one with Milner in central midfield which is far from ideal. Imagine we'll see Sturridge for 20-25 minutes.
