Retired US Soccer / World Cup Thread (RIP)

Just go away. No one feed this attention whore.

I'm talking about Solo

Japan lose their qualif opener at home to UAE. Get nervous, dv!

Spotted this suggested lineup in article on SBI. Certainly would be an attacking lineup

Altidore
Wood Pulisic
Nagbe Beckerman Bedoya
Johnson Besler Cameron Yedlin

Donnarumma is on for Italy. At 17 he is the youngest GK ever for the Azzurri.

SEVENTEEN!

GK a lot harder to break into than field player

I didn't realize that Messi was already back with the Argentine national team. Just in time to score a sick goal (off deflection).

So much for that "retirement". It was an ugly match though. Two weak yellow cards for Dybala and he was sent off before half. Uruguay was toothless though, just kept playing long balls when up a man and Argentina pressing.

Arnos Vale Stadium is pretty cool.

It's also like 72 meters wide.

Guzan; Yedlin, Cameron, Besler, Acosta; Zusi, Beckerman, Bedoya, Johnson; Wood, Altidore

Could live without Beckerman, but love that Fabian is in the midfield. Pretty happy with this overall.

Not spectacular buildup, but a good layoff from Johnson and Wood bends it into the back post. 1-0 after 28"
