Wake Forest 2023 baseball season thread (Deacs end historic season with extra inning loss to LSU: Final record 54-12 and top 4 finish nationally)

Given the weather forecast, I would move the schedule around and play meaningful games today: Wake/Miami and UNC/Clemson. Play other games on Saturday as weather allows, but it looks like a washout. Hope the weather breaks on Sunday or Monday to play the championship game.
Talked to a guy at the game yesterday, and he said some years back they had the old double elimination tournament in Durham, and after a few days delay b/c of rain, they had games simultaneously at Chapel Hill and maybe one more in the area. If you can move games on short notice that actually mean something, surely you could scoot an exhibition on short notice to UNC, State or NC Central(stadium featured in Bull Durham movie).

it can't be too big an issue. they've won 5/8 Natty's and were runner-up in 2 of the others
Generally agree but the last two years the champion 1) lost in the first round of the SECT and didn't even get to double elimination and 2) lost in two straight games in double elimination

They'll get in two games tomorrow
Depends on how water drains and how they can maintain the field throughout the day. Tomorrow alone they're projecting 1.2" of rain during the day plus another .75" overnight and finally .4" on Sunday (per Accuweather). Even if the rain isn't coming down that hard, I don't know how well fields can handle an inch of rain over the course of a day and still be playable. Maybe the answer is they can handle it very well and it's no issue at all.

I'd like to see them move the start of game 1 up a little bit just to try and avoid some of the rain so there's time to bank just in case. But who knows what they'll end up doing.

Pretty sure keeper's (lower case k) son is/was the head groundskeeper at the DBAP.....the field drains exceptionally well. If they can dodge the lightning, they'll get the games in somehow, it just won't be a very pleasant fan experience.

A lot of those seats are covered, and there is zero lightning in the forecast. 🤞

It's the ACC Baseball Tournament. It's not some Youth travel tourney where they are gonna just cancel games and move the schedule due to pending weather and flooding fields. Big Boy rules. 3 games over 2 days.
It's not an f-ing catastrophic weather event we're talking about

Has anyone got an update on Sullivan? At this point are we just gonna try and hold him until regional?

Just got an alert that multiple streets around DPAC are blocked off due to a bomb threat. Hopefully that gets resolved soon.

Walter said yesterday on the post game that the plan for Saturday was Hartle with Sullivan in relief.

Man this storm really bringing out all the stops ! Seems extreme for a subtropical front

Wouldn't there always be a chance Keener doesn't pitch if we don't, you know, advance to the finals?
