Wake Forest 2023 baseball season thread (Deacs end historic season with extra inning loss to LSU: Final record 54-12 and top 4 finish nationally)

Of course we didn’t have Rhett Lowder then either.

the average ERA of our weekend starters would be tied for #11 in the individual ERA stats, and that doesn't include our #1 long pen guy who has an ERA under 1.00.

That's why we have the potential to win it all.

At this point it's all about managing those arms to be ready starting Friday, June 2

(and just for kicks, let's win the first regular season title in 60 years, plus another ACC tournament)

Wake has more quality pitching depth than at any time in my memory. Pitching travels.

FWIW, there is NCAA Baseball Bracketology and both these projections have WF as the #2 overall seed (LSU as the #1 overall seed):

Yahoo

Yahoo's Winston-Salem Region pod includes:

1 WF
4 Davidson

2 Campbell
3 Bama

Yahoo's 15 seed is Oregon

D1 Baseball

D1 Baseball's Winston-Salem Regional pod includes;
1 Wake Forest
4 Rider

2 Campbell
3 UGA

FWIW, their 15 seed is Dallas Baptist. D1's last 5 in includes NC State. D1's first 5 out includes Elon and VT.

Guess these means that there's a solid chance Campbell will be the #2 seed in WF's regional. FWIW, Campbell beat UNC last night. UNC is a bubble team right now.

Campbell scares me.

There was never any hope.

And watch out….the ‘Pards are going to be the patriot league tourney winner and crash the NCAA with a horrific record

The real question, is Chen still wearing the beer t-shirt on the reg?

Not buying Indiana State as a regional host over Campbell.

I know they like grouping regional teams together, but I doubt they would put Campbell, who is probably on the fringe of hosting a regionals themselves, as a 2 seed in the No. 2 overall seeded region. Lots of time to sort it all out, but I do not want to see Campbell as our 2 seed.

Campbell has been in the top 15 most of the year and some sites have them hosting or perhaps they would stick them with ECU if they were to host.

The bet limits on college baseball are so low; not sure it would be worth trying to fix the games. Also, the games draw so little action (handle) that fixing a game would be easily detected. Then again, never under estimate to the stupidity of others.
Alabama fired their head coach this morning essentially for conduct unbecoming of a manager. So this will be fascinating to follow
