Wake Forest Football Offseason Discussion

Nah -- still not that hard.

But I'd be happy with 6-6 this year as we're still recovering from where lazy Grobe left us

Shreveport was a good time back in '92. Plus kicking A&M's ass would provide some nice national exposure.

Wasn't that the Poulan Weedeater Bowl?

An all-time classic for bowls names.

It was the Poulan Weedeater Independence Bowl.

The Independence Bowl with a rather interesting sponsor name in front.

Correct.
And didn't we beat Oregon in that game?

Yes, WF won despite giving up two pick 6s to Oregon. Almost impossible to comeback from that.

WF owns the Pac 12 in bowl games! 3-0.

It's more like we're still recovering from 8 years of Caldwell. The Grobe years were some of the best in WFU history and we should stop knocking him for letting us slip back to being better than we were when he was hired.

Caldwell left us in better shape then Grobe did. Grobe rode Caldwell's NFL recruits to his early success.

Grobe did leave us with no offensive talent at all, but his winning percentage was twice as good as Caldwell's. Caldwell couldn't have won with the players he left Grobe.

Caldwell's staff had a good eye for under the radar NFL and near NFL caliber offensive linemen.

Caldwell literally coached a bowl game in his next to last season at Wake.

blue, DL as well.
