Wake Forest vs. Florida State Game Thread

This.

Coaches do a majority of their job not on game day and Manning is pretty good at a lot of that.

Coaches have only a limited number of things they can do to influence the game post tip off. Time-outs and player rotations are two that manning is still figuring out and it has hurt our chances in numerous games. He also has to start letting our players play longer with foul trouble. He is essentially fouling our players out with less than 5 fouls.

There are some times that Manning needs to rephrase an Odom line, "Timmy be careful out there" which was said in a close game after Tim Duncan picked up his fourth foul.

If I recall, Tim played the rest of the game without getting foul number 5.

Duncan's ability to play productively despite foul problems was astonishing. It was probably the result of having to play due to a lack of other interior options his freshman year. He rarely committed stupid fouls away from the basket and was seldom perturbed if allowing a basket would enable him to stay in a game and secure a win.

That's why he's arguably the best defensive big man of all time.

The ability to shake off a play where the opponent scores in order to achieve the larger goal of winning the game was one of Tim's strengths. That is something that is difficult for many to understand.

Collins could use some of that. Don't let giving up a basket on a particular play interfere with the larger goal of winning the game. Easier said than done.
