WF Tennis (WS Open Starts Saturday)

As with last year, there's an element of Catch-22 in this as in the further they go, probably the greater the chance that they go pro. But as non-Americans, it's probably less of a factor than it was for Rubin

Mansouri lost 6-1, 6-2 to #6 McDonald this morning and Petros is down 4-6, 1-4 to #16 Hiltzik. Mansouri/Seraphim play later today.

Wow, Tros just won second set. Dude he's playing looked rough last 4 games

Up two breaks in third! Hiltzik is framing them left and right.

Winnar! Forehand was rolling in the third, especially up the line. Awesome comeback.

Great comeback. Petros was down 4-6, 1-4 and then won 11 of the last 14 games to win it 6-3 in the third. He'll play the 1 seed, Torpegaard from Ohio State tomorrow.

Chrysochos will play #1 ranked and #1 seed Torpegaard from Ohio St. next in the quarterfinals.

Beat me to it. Also noticed that Ryan Shane, defending singles champion and the guy who beat Rubin last year lost to Joao Monteiro from Va Tech

Looks like Skander/Dirk won today and are in final 8. Solid tourney even if the team didn't meet expectations.

With the win they became all Americans. Men's tennis continues to rewrite their record books.

All our guys lost today. Still good showings by them--all either lived up to our out-performed their seeding

Pro Tennis Update

Lazarov lost in the quarters last week in Bulgaria futures. He's 5-2 this month, and got a WC to this week's futures but drew the #2 seed. They'll play tomorrow.

Keivon got a 1st round bye, won his 2nd round, and lost the final round of qualies in Turkey futures over the weekend. He's 8-3 this month.

Alan Gadjiev lost 1st round qualies in Uzbekistan to a guy he beat last week.

We should see the activity pick up over the next couple of weeks.

Keivon ended up getting into the main draw as a LL (Lucky Loser) but lost.

Alex Lazarov had his biggest win, knocking off the #2 seed, and a top 400 ATP player. If these results are any indication of what we are getting, he is going to be a VERY good #3 next year.

The guy Lazarov beat had a career high ranking of 281 last August. Very impressive win. If Lazarov, Mansouri, Chrysochos all play for Wake next year, then 1-3 is going to be very, very good. IMR, thanks for the updates, they're greatly appreciated.
