Ongoing Dem Debacle Thread: Commander will kill us all

Did you just post a Fox News article?

https://www.salon.com/2019/07/18/rep-ilhan-omar-introduces-resolution-affirming-boycotts-as-protected-free-speech/

"The resolution from Omar — who has faced repeated criticism from Democrats and Republicans alike for noting the power of the Israel lobby — does not mention Israel, Palestine or the "boycott, divestment and sanctions" movement known as BDS."

If you read the Fox article, she specifically mentions support for BDS as a reason for the bill in a statement to a reporter. The article itself notes that the bill does not mention Israel, Palestine, or BDS.

I'm not going to read a Fox News article, but I am glad it is more accurate than this: "Ilhan Omar has introduced a resolution supporting a Palestinian-led campaign promoting boycotts against Israel."

I know there were threads a good while ago about Omar and her supposed anti-Semitism, but whatever her feelings about Israel it seems clear that to nearly all Republicans, and even a good many Democrats, virtually any criticism of Israel or Israeli government policies is instantly construed as anti-Semitic. To many members of Congress, unless you're loudly 100% in support of everything Israel does you're anti-Semitic. Omar has deeply offended that constituency and they've got their knives out for her, there's no doubt of that.

You can dissagree with Israel and US foreign policy towards Israel, without directly referencing blatantly anti-semitic tropes. She clearly did just that.

However Trymp or anyone telling anyone to get out of America because they disagree with their philosophies is disgraceful. Pubs defending it should be embarrassed.

It was her verbiage not opposing Netanyahu. I've opposed him for over a decade. I oppose settlements and other RW Israeli issues, but she went way beyond that and did so more than once.

Make no mistake about it, I am not a fan of hers and doubt I ever will be.

Even with this, there is no place for "send her back" in this country. That is loudspeaker racism and has been for close to two centuries. There is no wiggle room or place for it.

I question the loyalty of Republicans state lawmakers passing all these laws punishing American companies that boycott Israel. Saying WASPy politicians promote the interests of Israel over the freedom of Americans isn’t a trope.

+1.

"I don't want to send US Rep. Omar back; I want to send her to the nearest television greenroom. I think she and The Squad ought to speak as freely and in front of a camera as often as possible. Every time they do, they continue to become the face of the national Democratic Party.

No matter whom the Democrats nominate for president, the message and policies of The Squad will make up the heart of the nominee's platform. This is a disaster for the Democrats and a gift to the GOP, which is fighting to reassure educated suburban voters to stick with them. Sure, they may not love Trump's behavior or rhetoric on some issues, but they'll take a good economy and secure border over socialism, higher taxes and open borders any day.

This is a beautiful thing for Trump. The Squad jerks its party leftward every day; its members represent extremely blue, urban districts that just don't match the battleground states Democrats need to win to deny Trump a second term."

Op-ed on CNN from a Republican operative. https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/19/opinions/squad-is-a-gift-to-trump-jennings/index.html

Not shocking, but it seems like a primary GOP strategy at this point is going to be just lying and pretending the Democrats want socialism and open boarders.

I love Republicans telling Democrats what to do. Republicans were able to sell carpetbagger Donald Trump to their electorate. Democrats couldn't sell ice water to fans at a 90 degree football game.

The Dems need to stand up and refute those BS statements and not let the GOP keep saying them in a vacuum.

Dems have to stop being wusses and address these lies as they are told.

So, the advice of this GOP operative for Democrats is for younger liberal women to just shut up and do what they're told by the party leadership, and to try to be Republican Lite when it comes to their policies. Really surprising. The truth is that if it wasn't for "The Squad", the GOP and Fox News would be hammering Pelosi herself as a far-left socialist (which they did for years), or they'd just find some other convenient (probably female and minority) target to portray as the "radical, socialist, far-left face" of the Democratic Party. Even if these four women did just shut up, get completely off twitter and social media, and didn't say another word until November 2020, it wouldn't change a thing, as the GOP would just go after someone else. It's what they do, and have been doing for decades now. And very successfully, I might add.

Or otherwise drum of grievance politics about how hard it is to be Christian and white--when there's no social controversy they rail on PC police on college campuses or the War on Christmas or whatever. These are not the people Democrats should be taking advice from.
