Thoughts on Burns over Sweat as a fit for the Panthers?

I don't like either. I don't want qualifications in my first round pick. Sweat needs "special" coaches that "won't yell at him," and Burns comes undersized. If an OL gets his hands on him, then what? A small DE in the 3-4 - can he defend the run? Can he play full time OLB and handle the extra responsibility of defending run and pass coverage? I agree with tigerswood that Burns is probably a situational pass rusher. I don't want specialists in the first round. Also the FSU DE flameout pedigree is troubling.

So, we've got the following picks tonight:

2nd round #47
3rd round #77
3rd round #100

Would love to see an OL, LB or defensive backfield, and big WR. We're going to need another DE at some point as Addison will be a 32-year free agent next year looking for his last chance at a big pay day and Bruce Irvin is the same age and on a 1-year contract.

We ignoring S/CB?

Luckily, we can take the BPA at any position other than QB or MLB, and maybe DT or TE, and it will make sense.

I mean, if AJ Brown or TK Metcalf is there at #48 do you take one of them ? What about JJ Arcega-Whiteside or Riley Ridley at #77 or #100? Those guys are all 6'1 - 6'3.

I was really hoping Jonah Williams would slip to us last night but he went a few picks before. A couple of good tackles still out there right now who might be options at #47.

I guess we have to get a Safety though.

Looking at Risner, Cody Ford, or Greg Little in the 2nd

Would like a Safety in third round and then BPA the rest of the way

wouldn't mind trading both 3rds for a stud safety in the second - Nasir or CGJ

we have to go OL in the 2nd round right? I mean, we have to...

We never do though. Why should we now ?

I think Risner would be a great pick though.

We’ve taken a LB with 4 of the last 5 picks. Only one so far is listed at DE and Haynes is still small for the position.

Going to a 3-4 is likely.

I'm hoping for Greg Little or Risner

Risner would probably plug right into LG and we'd have a nice OL (on paper) going into the season
