Totally Unofficial 2019/2020 Premier League Thread (NWT)

England heading into a month long lockdown. It’ll be interesting to see if the EPL will still be able to play matches.

I can only pray nobody else watched that half of football. Was worse than United-Chelsea last week.

Weak AF penalty, but also very stupid by Gomes who is way too reckless for being an average player.

Regardless we suck and deserved to lose. With no Richy, James, Digne or Coleman we are poop.

Siggy, Gomes, Bernard, Iwobi are all garbage

Everton winless since October 3rd.

Haven’t won a game without Richarlison since he signed

Idk why the manager doesn’t let Gordon play; he was barking at Delph and Doucoure and Gomes and Sigurdsson and Allan to play more directly and progressively but those are all fairly negative players or at least slow and shit

Getting James and Richarlison and eventually Holgate back should bring some of the vibes back but this was a really bad approach against this Newcastle team

Partey and Gabriel for a combined £73M (or 91% of a Maguire) looks to be insane value. Gabriel has at least 4-5 MOTM performances already and he can barely speak English. We still have a long way to go but those two players have addressed huge issues in our squad and we look to be headed in somewhat of the right direction.

Gabriel should have been sent off with about 20 minutes to go in the match after Greenwood embarrassed his fucking ass with the half moon.

How THIS wasn't a yellow card offense (which would have been Gabriel's 2nd) is fucking beyond me.

Biased Arsenal fan is biased, but the screenshot looks way worse than it did live. There are fouls in soccer that are just fouls and not cards. It was a mistimed challenge but it wasn't malicious, he didn't go in studs up, and it wasn't a deliberate denial of a clear chance.

Also this:

Arsenal's numbers are still pretty worrying. They're shooting about half as much as the rest of the top 6.

They will continue to be worrying likely through the remainder of the season unless someone takes a leap as a creator (really Saka is the only option as of right now to do so). Arsenal just didn't have enough funds to cover all their needs in one window, so Arteta and Co. chose to solidify the back end and hope we could do just enough on the attacking end to get through. So far, results are mixed, we were a couple of poorly taken chances from points away to City and were really harshly penalized by a questionable VAR decision ruling out a goal against Leicester which would make things look a little rosier. But this will not be a high octane Arsenal side most likely through January and unless Lyon will let Aouar go in January and we somehow get the funds to go get him, probably the rest of the season will be tough as well.

It was a foul without a credible attempt to play the ball. That's a yellow card for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Dean was a coward (because he's a shit ref)

Mike Dean being accused of being soft on Arsenal and not doing everything in his power to level the game after the penalty is the weirdest timeline of 2020 so far

Fulham is out of the bottom 3.

Leeds getting torn up on the counter, but they've had some decent looks themselves. I think that's just the plan all season. Create chances and hope to convert better than the opponent.
